This is my first hand exploration with the Mate desktop (Mate exclusive you can say as i have not ventured into cinnamon version till now)....

it reminded me of the good ol' gnome 2 days and i felt i ll post my first screenshot ofter some basics done ! Its also interesting to note that Nautilus file manager is called Caja in Mate and another thing i noticed is that the file manager playes the music files when we hover the mouse over it (a feature that is missed in the current nautilus version as the developers discontinued the feature)

(still wondering why the screenfetch didnt pick up the gtk theme and icon theme !)
