How long have you been doing wood burning?

I learned how to wood burn three years ago but I've been doing wood burning religiously for the past few months before I started my Etsy. I will say this isn't the best wood burning I've done.
I wood burned this and spent hours on the fur and stupidly put gesso on top of the whole wood burning which faded and and filled the burn etchings. The reason why I put gesso on top is because I didn't want the paint I was going to put on the wood to be transparent or rot the wood.
So I did this and painted it did more stupid things to try and help get the fur back in its original form. I sanded the gesso down and peeled and scratched off the gesso.
After I was done trying to 'erase' the gesso I burned over it instead to give the darkness of the eyes back. This is the final product. I am really disappointed but you live and you learn!Β
