Description Legolas at the Council of Elrond

Coming back from a work excursion last night and leafing my calendar I noticed that =flordelys 's LOTR contest [link] deadline is today.. so I decided to try and draw something for it really fast. This is a quick sketch and for some reason I ended up drawing Legolas again.. He's examining his bow during the Council of Elrond.

Very nice! I like to see different versions other than the movie one. Love the detail on his clothes, like the little leaf-like patterns.

Heh.. I did like Bloom's Legolas, but that's not really quite like I see the character.. (neither is this, exactly.. it's just a silly sketch)

it made me smerk..his pose is remarkable ( I have no concept of proper anatomy)
and oddly anough, his hands are the best part, by far

Thanks! Well, it's a sketch, so there definitely are some issues with his anatomy (..not to mention the completely nonfunctional bow.. what was I thinking? )

the bow IS a bit...odd...btu it could be that he's fixing it!
Wehn i act, if i screw something up and someone asks me what i was doing, i add somethign to the picutre. Like, if i was an old woman and I gave her a phobia, then i make that part of the image and imbrace it...so say that he's wondering who crafted such an odd bow

interesting clothes. I had always problems with trausers and shoes :/ I can't find proper material and I don't know if my granmother will manage to make such clothe... as far I use leather jacket, light shirt made of some strange material and black jeans anyway it looks nice but I would like to have such clothes as Legolas on your icture.

Great to see you back! I like your design of Legolas, and as usual, the way you do clothes is awesome. I hope to see more Silmarillion/LOTR drawings soon, they're always great!

You... you... You're alive!!!! My god!!!!! Legolas with dark hair... I like it. He looks less girly and more manly. I can dig a manly legolas. Fine pecils my friend. I'm still jealous of your skill.

Haha, yeah.. I’m alive.. kind of. Despite the best efforts of the people i work for.. Just too much work and too little time for drawing lately. I'm trying to find a little more dA time now.

Thanks my friend. Glad to hear you like it -- i definitely agree, girly elves are just not right..

Thank you! I'm happy with the pose and the general layout, but i know the drawing could use some more work.. i'll have to fix his feet and add more shading. But it was a close call that i managed to finish it up to this level before the deadline..

He looks almost confused. Very nice for a "quick sketch."

He's looking closely at a scratch on the bow that would need fixing. Thanks.. well, i'd say it's not that much of a sketch as it is an incomplete drawing.. but there was the deadline to think about.

Great picture, especially if you only consider it a quick sketch. The detail on the clothes is very good and I love the patterns on the quiver and the bow. Very nice indeed. Good luck with the competition. I’ll have to swing by that page and have a look at the other entries.

aautio In reply to Alcamin [2006-05-20 20:54:56 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I consider it more like a WIP stage drawing than an actual sketch.. I should put more work into it and I think I will update it later. There’s lots of things that need more defining, his feet are too small to mention one.. and I should add more shading and so on. I just had to finish it in some form before the deadline.

It makes me think he's looking at old scratches and things in his bow and trying to remember where he got them... or maybe just admiring the elvish handiwork.
I love it, Mikko ^^

Heh, yeah.. i figured he'd have better things to do -- like checking his bow for dents and notches that might require fixing.. judging by his look he just found one.

Amazing techinque, by the way, it's great to see other interpretations of the character, instead of the well-known Orlando Bloom's appearence.

Thank you. I agree, I definitely want to encourage everyone to create their own image of the book characters instead of taking the movie types as the right ones.
