for a P+S that thing has horrible focusing capability given the simplicity of the picture. (yeah, if it was at night or macro or something else that would excuse it, maybe it would be ok, but please...) and I'd suggest using an ISO under 400. 400 is way too grainy for normal lighting pictures. I also suggest when you scan, putting the picture against the edge of the scanner bed so as to eliminate crookedness. Failing that, atleast crop the picture to get rid of the white edges and make the crookedness less obvious.
Lastly, when you get the chance get a digital. They are cheap if you don't need a camera as good as mine is (a Panasonic Lumix-Leica) and you don't unless you constantly work with macro (i haven't seen any macro shots in your gallery), super long distance, high-speed action shots, or low light conditions.
