The posture is everything in this piece, I think - for me, if there's a message, it's in the shoulders of the subject. Then, there's the detail, which in pure two-tone black and white can so easily be crude, but here is harmonious whilst, at the same time, bleak. What I especially love is that the least detail has been applied to the subject's head... everything we need to know about her is depicted from the neck down - facial expression, if she were facing towards us, is already redundant.
I'm always amazed at how this kind of precision and detail can be achieved with spraypaint. Very powerful and accomplished. Not at all surprised it sold. In my favourites immediately.

Thanks for the critique on may art work.
It does have a message, but I kind of wanted it to be left to the viewer to decide. Which is why I called it Exploited Play. Is the child playing or being forced into child labor of some kind.
Thanks for taking the time to give your opinions and adding to your favorites.

Some of the best art, I think, is that which provokes differing interpretations by its audience. My first impression was that the child is undertaking her share of her family's toil to survive: though it doesn't quite fit with the title, it's sadly a way of life for many many children.
Thanks for the reply, and for the llama! All the best

1) I like the art show of this piece, Why? ... 2) although I am not content at all, why? ...
1) The piece reports a fact which I think is very good ... 2) I see two areas that may be connected ... I mean on the merits of the piece and the character appears in it. The work may become more connected in the graph space, I mean, in the management of color in the bottom of the work.
The illusion that appears as the horizon in the sample of the work is very good I am glad to see it.
As for the overall color of the entire piece could be more captivating.
Well it's just my opinion do not want to annoy, or confuse, etc .... for me the work is a good piece

This is a very striking piece. The contrast of the white and black figure against the brightly coloured background makes the figure stand out well. This contrast is also accentuated by the purposeful lines and contours that define the figure, as opposed to the more random shapes and lines that make the background.
I am also drawn to the different textures in this piece. The streaming paint lines set opposite of the honeycomb pattern of colour gives depth to the background. You can look at this piece many times, and pick out new details each time.
Overall, a beautiful and unique work which is a pleasure to view.

Thanks very much Katie, really appreciate the critique. That is what I really want, people to see something different each time they look at my piece. Having depth in the background is hard to do, so I'm real glad you think it works.
Thank you!

I have decided to critique this particular piece of yours, because while it's not my top favorite from your gallery, it still possesses all qualities that we can find in your works.
I find the chosen subject interesting and captivating. Love your usual way of coloring - the black & white figure and abstract colorful background. In this case, however, I think the background color composition could have been chosen a little differently, creating a bigger visual space in front of the figure's face. Since it's turned backwards to the viewer, the final picture makes slightly "flat" impression. This is of course only my opinion.
Overall, as with the rest of your gallery, I highly recommend for everyone to check, it's a real pleasure.e.deviantart.net/emoticons/f/f… " width="17" height="15" alt="

Thanks so much for the critique Jane. I do see what you are talking about with the color choices around the head and will work to improve that next time.
