Can someone please tell me how to submit animated GIFs? Do they require a specific method of uploading or what the format should be like for the animated gif to be uploaded?

You should be able to upload any animated gif. Where you may be having trouble is with the preview. Gifs require a preview image of some kind for the thumbnail image (e.g. the small image displayed in your gallery) to display correctly. This preview image can be a still frame from your animation, or even an image that says "preview" (or any image for that matter). If you want the preview to be animated, you will need to create a separate gif that is 150 X 150 pixels in size (or less).
During your submission process, first upload your main image, then in the top right it should say (in red) "Preview required:" Click on the icon beside that and it will give you an option to "Change preview image" Upload your preview image and voila, you're ready to rock!
