the burning embers
we hold to throw
at others,
resentment
first burn us.
While we pace around
in the agony
of unfulfilled desires
for retribution
and justice.
An angry, unforgiving heart
can never heal, or find peace.
Forgive those
trapped in their darkness.
Set yourself free.
Offer grace to another being,
open yourself to divine grace.
Let karma take care of the rest.
Its cycles might be long,
but they do corner us.
We know it in our heart.
