I approve of this. It's a real great design, and I love how you rendered the gun.

Wow, this is a great depiction of these guys! I like the arthropod-like take.Β
Coincidentally I JUST started reading Consider Phlebas. It's a good book! I've been thinking about coming up with my own Idiran design since starting it

Much more insectile than I first pictured them, but it really works. Are you planning on doing any more of Banks's menagerie?

Great take on the natural mantid 'centaur' design.

Cool but how would targets work and when they first created simplistic firearms what did they use for the equivalent of iron sights? How did they put the firearms in a position of their eyes line of sight?

Seeing this I wonder how Birrin fire arms would look like. I mean they are not much further advanced as humans from what I could tell but the design specificly tailored to their body state, so to speak,Β might yield an interessting design.

If you go back into his gallery, there are two pieces that have Birrin firearms (although older). Their SMG's looked something between a modern Kriss 45 mixed with something out of Mass Effect.

Now he just needs a Medjel buddy to help him keep guard! (or kick around--seeing as he is an Idiran after all).
Good work!

At first I mistook this creature's... cranial/optical cybernetic? Head ornament? Whatever that is... for a little top-hat with a red bow. And I must say, I find that amusing! This is also a really cool lookin' creature in general.Β

. . . Why? I mean everyone entitled to their own opinion but. . . Why do you hate it?

I know this is sci-fi, but horror writers and artists are told that if you're creeping your audience out, you're doing the right thing.

I get it, it just the original post doesn't convey that same sentiment.Β

I'd love to see you draw more Cultureverse aliens. Not sure if anybody other than you could pull it off.

Awesome illustration of the species! Also really like how the weapon is designed with their anatomy in mind! Β

It's visible, just not obvious. A minor flaw in an otherwise amazing work.

Finally "face" behind character.
I loved Culture novels, and I LOVE how you depicted young Idirans.
