Description Fiiinally finished. I've wanted to redesign Ayla for about a year now. I didn't have the time to do so until now.

I rarely make reference sheets because it takes FOREVER to finish off the lineart. It can take me *longer* to make a simple, flat-colored reference sheet than it would take me to finish a full painting. I don't know why that is, though. I guess it's 'cause I'm a super, super slow sketcher.

Though I gotta say, I am pretty happy with how the muscles came out here. I tried out a new way of sketching in the muscles, and it worked out pretty dang well. I guess I'm finally learning something about human anatomy. Woo~

Let me know what you think about her new design! And feel free to critique the anatomy, design, text, or reference sheet setup; I don't mind critiques. Questions about her are fine with me as well.

Oh man, the new sta.sh submission page is SUPER annoying. It keeps deleting all of my text and settings before it submits the picture. *sigh*

I love her design, I usually prefer anthro designs to look more like animals than humans, but this one grabbed my attention!

Thanks, Stygma! <3
I'm really getting into human anatomy right now. It was intimidating back in the day, but it isn't that rough now that I'm actually *studying* it.

And I forgot to say: I love the tail!

I have to draw more humans. I used to draw them all the time when I was a teenager. I guess now I see how much flawed they are and it gets on my nerves!

Humans are both the easiest and HARDEST thing to draw.

Seriously, there are so many great resources for them compared to animals... but everyone knows what a human looks like and will *know* if you screw them up slightly. With wolves and other animals, you could half make them look like freakin' cheetahs and people will still like them.

Pretty people are the hardest of all, though. You mess up something even remotely, and that "prettiness" is gone. That's probably why my humans are always monstrous when I do happen to draw them. You can really, really screw up a monster's face and it'll only make them scarier.

Haha!

With animal, we can hide flaws under fur! Teehee!

Wow! Great job and awesome character!  I totally get what your saying about it taking longer to do line work with flat colors verses painting.  I'm the same way!  Painting is not as painstaking of a process for me.

Thank you very much! I guess it's because there's a lot more leeway in painting. You can screw up a color or a shade slightly and still have it look good. With lineart, it's either correct or incorrect. I find painting soothing, while lineart is always kind of a pain. XD
