Just curious, how do you even do that to a cat? Not implying that the fur will be damaged, but I imagine whatever is used isn't too good for being ingested (when they clean themselves) or to get accidentally in their eyes or ears.. how to do you handle that? Won't they squirm around?

The substance is suppose to be harmless if ingested.
It's like a cream that is applied, then washed out. Should be noticeable when they wash themselves and not poisonous.
They have done it to dogs for a long time already, mostly puddles.
