apon my first look it reminded me of a Sahagin from the Final Fantasy game series
but now it doesn't so much, but still kinda does.
Anywho.. its a very nice peice (as always ) nice colouring, and a plain and yet effective background.
well done ^^

I've gotten SO many comments saying "Oh this reminds me of...." I could list them all but I think it would take to long.

Yeah, I saw the movie, but where does the water creature fit with the movie, I guess it's not supposed to, just gives inspiration? My favorite part in that movie was the ending where the stupid blonde is embarrassed in the middle of a song that she's lip-syncing to. Just a couple of songs were a little excessive and annoying, but I love Fred Astair's "Make 'Em Laugh!" song & dance number. There are some surprisingly good old films, in contrast to the really bad new films.

I've not seen it, however your comment about old/new films is very true. The number of good old films heavily out weighs the number of good new films!
Kinda sad really, now we have all this technology, and we can't even make a good film to use it in.

I don't know what a Hertasi is, but I want to find out! I've already heard that it reminds people of, the big fish in Star Wars Episode 1, Godzilla, something in Super-Metroid, that the face is like a Drak from the movie Enemy Mine, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon. But I don't know these books you speak of, I will try to check them out. Thanks for the comment!

Hopkins: Yes, bathing is a lonely bussiness.
Aurther: Except for fish.
Hopkins: What?
Aurther: Well, you see, fish all bath together, though they do tend to eat one another, I bet fish get awefully tired of sea food.
Hopkins: let see your hat.
Aurther: why?
Hopkins: please.
*Hopkins then hit Aurther in the head with the hat*
Name that movie for a free pat on the back, or brownie point or whatever other imaginary thing that tickles your fancy.

It is called Aurther, very funny movie, kinda old, starring Dudley Moore, not that dumb little rat cartoon.

Yay, someone else who's seen it! I've already rewatched it twice. Instead of having action fighting scenes, it had like action Dancing scenes, the songs were great, the whole thing was great, and it reminded me that humans can be graceful. I know I sound weird but,

That's funny...I like how his little hand grabs the stalagmite or whatever that is! Your creatures have such personalities, and it's not just in the face. Even the little ribcage is a great detail. I wonder what the rest of his body looks like?

Abydell In reply to RoseImmortal [2005-05-18 05:34:02 +0000 UTC]
I imagine that he has a long tail, and yeah that's supposed to be a stalagmite thing. Thanks, it was a nice, well written, interesting comment!

RoseImmortal In reply to Abydell [2005-05-18 15:09:25 +0000 UTC]
You're very welcome.
The long tail would make sense...he might even use it for propulsion, especially if he's totally aquatic and doesn't have back feet.
I like to give people detailed comments because sometimes it seems not everybody is willing to do that. I think if more people did, DA would be all the better for it.

looks like one of those creatures from the planet core of Naboo from star wars epsI, also looks like a combo of the boss of brinstar from Super Metroid meets godzilla ok sorry for all the geek references
its great work i love the scale work and spikes how did u do the scale work btw i never can get it that good.

Abydell In reply to SirMartin1 [2005-05-18 05:51:43 +0000 UTC]
Yeah that thing in Episode 1 was cool, I don't know the Super metroid thing though, as for Godzilla, I hope you mean the CGI american one, not the Jap version! .... About the Scale work. I usually imagine it like overlaping armor (like legolas's shoulder guards in the Two Towers) And I place it on the extremities (arms, legs, fingers) well like....sports pads & guards, you know, baseball catchers shin guards. And leave the under part of the arms and fingers plain. The Scales on the face and around the eyes, I just try to see what fits best and flow with the shape of the face (I redid the scales on this guy's face like three times)
