Sometimes I weird myself out just a little.I don't like the direction this picture took. I wanted it to be kind of subdued, hidden in darkness, but it ended up fiery, alien, and irritatingly dramatic.
Anyway, it's Aurora. The lineart was originally entitled "Only Tragedy" after the famous theatre masks, but somehow that didn't fit the colored version. Oh, and I realize that the lighting makes absolutely no sense.

Every time I see this picture, I stare at it for a good 20 minutes. It's just so DEEP and stuff.:^)
I'm in love with it. It just gives off a sad, mysterious feeling. Like she's trying to let go of the past. Forgive and (try to)forget what Jimmy has done, or never forgive him and continue hating him.
And I'm guessing the blue eyed mask represents Jimmy?

And if you're really afraid of taking risks, you should create a separate "anonymous" account on dA and post anything and everything there - doesn't matter if it's crap. It could be a squiggle. If you draw it, post it. That'll break down your artistic barrier and help get you started taking more risks

Oh wow, I love this.
I think the mask concept is so much more effective when you can't see their face (and obviously when they're ALSO not wearing a mask). When people use the mask idea and show the person's face anyway, it just doesn't work as well.
I also like how it's not the typical "happy" and "sad" masks, it's more "malicious" and "melancholy." I hope I got that right. XD I think you did a great job here though, I love it.

OMG! It's on YouTube. You gotta watch it. It takes place inside a computer system named Mainframe. The main good guys are a group of sprites named Dot Matrix, her little brother Enzo, and a Guardian named Bob. In each episode the User (aka us) downloads a game which comes down in the form of a purple "game cube" . If they dont beat the user the place where the game cube landed gets "nullified" along with all the binomes that got trapped in the game. Not only do they have to protect Mainframe from the game cubes but they also have to deal with a two Viruses. A brother and sister named Megabyte ad Hexidecimal. Hex's face is pretty much just masks and she has a sort of creepy stalker relationship with Bob. Seriously. You need to watch it.

This is simply stunning. I don't know what else I could say about it except I love what this says about humans in general. I know this is for your story, but it's a stunning work on its own.
