Description
Another ampha? Oh noAnother character for Barrakhat, the world i'm building with Lynn :33 Amphas are common in zones where the climate is steady and predictible, and also humid
The other most common races are (unsurprisingly) Humans and Ratfolk and Mousefolk, thou Rat and Mousefolk mostly live in the night domains while Humans are common in the day domains.
Anyway uhhhh
Shechem is a sentinel/high priest in charge of the Moon Temple in the far East. They're a lot like Andromeda in terms of their job - they look after the temple, maintain it, and act as a spokesperson for the deity. Except Shechem's job works a little differently - they also are a spiritual leader and teacher for those who visit the temple, and they don't get any 'firepower' from the Moon Deity. Instead, they're a gatekeeper for the Night Entrance to the spirit world, and the only one who can unlock the gateway. The gateway leads to a pocket room within a magic realm, where the actual Night Entrance to the spirit world sits. So they're not powerful like Andromeda, but they have some authority.
I love priest/gatekeeper characters holy hell
Every character in the world has a magical familiar that is just a personification of their energy, and the familiar doesn't necessarily reveal itself. A magician can call the familiar out of hiding and it will take physical form that the person can call on for guidance. Shechem's familiar is a lotus mantis who I haven't thought of a name for yet :3
Shechem's messy and kind of a hippie, they believe in peace and meditate daily. However, they're also kind of tricky and don't trust easily despite their compassion, and they won't hesitate to hold a grudge if you harm them or the temple. They meet the rest of the characters (Silas, Seraphina, Melchior, Absalom, Kismet and possibly Ryden and Evinrude??) when they try to get into the spirit realm, but Shechem refuses to help Absalom. I also want Silas and Seraphina to possibly ask Shechem to be their spiritual guide for a short while since they are travelling mystics and could use the insight
Shechem loves flowers, petal-filled pools and warm drinks
