Athanoian cities are deceptively pretty on foot, with immense pleasure and pride put into their constructions of brick and stone. However, they can turn into a much more intimidating maze once you begin to explore past a street or two. There is no separation between homes, no apparent organization or layout to the construction, even though they are in fact quite carefully asymmetrically designed. As many as twelve distinct layers turns these places into complex networks of stone and brick streets, staircases, tunnels, and buildings that can go on for miles.

Fortunately, almost all Athanoians are very friendly and perfectly willing to give advice on navigating their cocooning cities that have been likened to living Escher paintings.
