I've apparently acquired a habit of starting on a painting, but not actually bothering to finish it before a week or two later. Gg me. So this was a thing I was working on at the same time as my previous painting, hence the reappearing eye-theme. I might have a thing for them? Eyes are just waayy too cool for this world. I also sorta realized this looks familiar to Mystique mid-painting, but honestly I think that's pretty cool; she's one of my favorite x-men peeps.Still not doing too well on the mental department, but I'll get there soon enough.

I really love the detail on the hair. The shading you've done is very realistic, and you can see the great amounts of effort put into this piece! I love how you took the time to show each strand of hair, without it looking messy, haphazard or scratchy. The facial structure is really well done! You got the anatomy spot on, and I can clearly see the emotion displayed through her body language, and expression. It all is just so well done! Her eyes are my favorite part, though, I love the glowing effect you put in them, it just looks so magical. The shading you did for the skin is so realistic, especially that on the chest.

The atmosphere of the painting gives me a deep sense of melancholy despite some of the vibrant colors you've used in the hair. The figure demands a sentiment of empathy stemming from the atmosphere coupled with her countenance making her a rather sad but elegant figure. You have a good handle on using multiple light sources with the strong back lighting from her hair and the weaker soft lighting that shines upon her face from above. The color palette you've used works well together and I feel that is best emphasized in the visible brush strokes in the background and hair.
While the eyes are arresting in color and shape, it is the ear the keeps drawing my attention. You did a grand job of showing the effect of light through skin. It looks like you can even see something akin to veins through the skin on some parts of the ear. While I do appreciate the structure of the vein like tendril through ear, if you had intended for it to be a vein the actual vein would be darker than the lighter part because of the added thickness to the overall ear. Also, it may be the positioning of the head and the way the hair is streaming down her neck, but the neck does look a bit too long if this is based on human anatomy. All in all, this is a lovely piece for your gallery and I look forward to seeing more of your work.

First things first, I absolutely love the atmosphere of this picture. The blue-ish green of the character's skin, the pose with the tilted head, and the firey red hair all make for gorgeously soft feelings here. The eyes are pretty impressive too, I like the way the orange really shines, and the slit pupils make her seem exotic, and, yes, rather a bit like Mystique! The slanted eyebrows, in addition, make her look melancholical, which adds to the overall atmosphere. I also enjoyed the fact that her hair counts as the light source of this image, and the contrasting, sharp shadows of her left side cloud the character in even more mystery: One wnats to know who she is, and what or who she's thinking about.
The only chritique I have is with the right shoulder and shadows, because it looks a bit like there should be a hand somewhere (maybe touching her cheek or something...?), but there just is none visible, and I think it looks a little odd.
The hair resembling a burning candle is a nice touch, and I love how the colours get brighter towards the tip. All in all, great piece!

Can I just say how cool this is? I LOVE IT! All the colors and the conceptual feeling of it make it SO COOL! Anybody else think of Avatar when they see this?
Love the way you decided to make the glowing hair the focus of this work, casting her face in shadow makes her look softer and more mysterious. At the same time , making her eyes glow was smart too, as it draws the eyes to her face ever so slightly while keeping the main focus on her hair. i'd love to see if this has a backstory too it, if there's a reason why you chose to draw this. what species is she? Why is her hair glowing and floating upwards? Now normally, I don't like two toned glow, but the way you've pulled it off here looks really nice and calming. the pinkish side compliments really well with the blue glow and the darkness of the background so kudos to you on that.
The only thing I'd really suggest fixing is lighting, and even then their's not much wrong in that department. The little spot that bugs me is the two patches of light on her face, which helps us see, the face, sure, but the way you've drawn the light so that it stops just before her hairline and just a smidge below her ear makes the light on her face look weird and unnatural, like there's another light source somewhere, which hey. there very well may be.
but that's about all I got for ya, it's an Awesome painting, keep up the great work!

It doesn't have a particular background other than that the image popped into my head one day, so I wanted to make it. She's one of the creatures of my mind, I suppose Her hair is glowing and floating because magic is the best reason for anything! This is such a boring reply, but it's the truth of it
When I look at the piece again, I agree completely when it comes to the earlobe; I realize now how weird it looks, goodness me. Had that been darker it would have made the rest of the light on the ear and face pop more out. While I kinda like the lighting on her face and how it stops by the hairline, I'll definitely keep it in mind next time I make a piece like this!
