Cause of death if no plots available: Accidentally ended up eating some highly toxic berries. Got heavily sick for several weeks before passing away from malnutrition due to being unable to eat properly.

Purchased traits:
A long string with natural gems and minerals attached, through copper wire. Usually worn as an anklet or wing accessories. (Accessory)
Appearance: A cheerful-looking chubby avus, who seems to always be looking for what to do next.
His beak is long and thin, ending with a sharp hook and is a brown-stained gray - similar to his body color but paler. Said beak meets his face in a poof of short dark brown-ish black feathers with a purple sheen to them. His cheeks are stained with pale peachy blush, right on top of which are large dark beady eyes, which seem to always have a playful glint in them.
He has small hippo-like ears with a peachy inside and the same dark plume color on the outside. Shortly behind said ears, his short neck is covered in long flat dark feathers that drape down his back from the center, above his spine. Said feathers are also covered in a violet sheen at the top and fluff up softly in the breeze. Their underside is lighter in color.
His body is short and stubby but very filled out, being a solid chunk of chub, covered with a thick gray-ish skin that darkens toward the back. His skin oftentimes looks shiny and moist. His legs aren’t too well defined and jut out from the body right around the bottom. They seem a bit stick-y in regards to the rest of the body but are, in fact, very muscular and hold it up just fine. Said legs end with 4-toed feet with pale-colored hooves at the rims. His hooves and legs alltogether are usually tucked next to or dangling under his body as he prefers to keep himself afloat rather often.
His pale peachy chest sprouts a thin line of berry-like red skin that’s quite wrinkly and unusual. When excited or upset he has a tendency to fluff it up, resulting in a very large ballon-like breast over his chest, reminiscent of a berry. He can drum on his pouch when it’s filled with air to produce a peculiar sound.
His tail is short and thin, tapering toward the end and is fanned by feathers on both sides, which are longer toward the tip and gradually get shorter the closer they get to the body. The top of the feathers is iridescent while the bottom exhibits the lighter body color toward the tips of the dark feathers, similarly to his wings, which are dark at the tops and lighter at the bottom. His wings’ underside exhibits the soft peachy coloring toward the tips of the primary feathers, mainly over the wing tips, and the topside shows the same purple iridescence as the rest of his feathering. His wings are long and thin, reminiscent of a sea bird’s and very very large in order to support his body weight with their thin long build. They seem to be constantly fluttering and are occasionally struggling to keep their owner afloat properly.

Personality: Spindle is still a young child, oblivious to many things in the world, thanks to his father - Atala’s upbringing. The little roo could do as he wanted most of the time and Atala was a patient and caring parent, doing his best to keep harm out of Spindle’s way and war - out of his mind. As a result, the young Hippus became a dreamer and an idealist.
While he might be rather out-of-touch with the reality of the world, Spindle is maintaining his pure heart and loveable personality. He’s outgoing and charismatic, making friends with whoever he can and spending as much time as allowed with them.
He likes engaging in artistic activities and crafting things he hopes would be of use to Atala (he looks up to the older roo and loves him a lot). He also likes spending a lot of time in the water whenever possible - be it small puddles outside, rivers, lakes or even the sea! Although, he doesn’t like how his skin feels when he comes out of the sea. He prefers the smaller waters.
Spindle doesn’t like eating meat very much and prefers fruit and veggies to other types of food but he likes eating insects as well. He doesn’t like it when his dad makes meaty things to eat and usually ends up pouting for the rest of the day after such meals (but still eats them because wasting food is bad and Atala did go through the trouble of getting the food for him and, well, meat wasn’t that bad to upset Atala over).
While the young roo absolutely never means anyone or anything no harm, he is rather large and clumsy for his size - his large body as well as his long beak don’t make him the most graceful kid on the block. He has a tendency to bump and push things over and, more often than not, ends up feeling bad about it and being sad as well as overly apologetic to whoever owned the thing.

Backstory:
Nestling: Spindle didn’t do a whole lot for the very first part of his life. He hatched under Atala’s care and spent the first few weeks of his life just snuggled up in his nest, wrapped up nice and warm and chirped for food whenever hungry.
It didn’t take the little Hippus too long after before he was able to thermoregulate himself a bit and be able to stand on his legs. He started wobbling around the house for periods of time that kept on growing as time passed. The older avus was soon finding the little roo in all kinds of places he wasn’t sure how Spindle had gotten to, what with his hardly feathered wings and all, but it eventually became the norm and something Atala was more amused about than baffled, albeit still a bit worried when it seemed like the little one was getting himself in danger.
Fledgling: Time passed by unnoticed and Spindle had grown a bit more into his skin. His wrinkly baby body had filled out a bit and he was able to walk around way better than before. He was being more vocal as well, not only in regards to food and his wings had the majority of their feathers in now, although it was still only baby plumes.
He accompanied Atala out to town and on explorations whenever allowed and would constantly try to follow after him as close as possible like a baby duckling.
Sub-adult: As soon as Spindle started barraging Atala with questions the roo knew it was high time for the youngling to start learning some more things about the world. He wanted to keep Spindle as sheltered from the war as he could, knowing what harm it had already done to the oblivious little Hippus as well as everyone else across the continent.

Biological parents - Unknown
Presumably both passed away during/shortly after the wars before Spindle could even hatch.
Adoptive father - Atala (owned by Rowdy#6946)
A scout who passed by to investigate the village and stumbled upon Spindle’s egg, huddled by his father’s long-passed body. Decided to give the egg a shot at hatching, presuming it was still alive, and brought it back home with him. Raised the hatchling ever since.
Adopted younger sibling - ??? (owned by dragonn#8220)
Another orphan, picked up and raised by Atala, just a few months younger than Spindle. They grew up together.
