yes that's more like mine... although I think htat is more because there had to be as less as possible polygons on the aircraft for this game

it's not a bad attempt, but I can see several things that are just.... off. most notably in the tail area. and even more on the area above the intakes. Odds are, if the Tomcat had reached such a stage, she would have retained much of her original shape, which is something that Grumman did with all of it's planes since the F-6 Hellcat. The reason for this is because if you change the original shape to much, enemy pilots are able to distinguish between them, and will act accordingly.
When the F6 Hellcat entered the fight in the pacific, Zero pilots believed it to be the F4 Wildcat, and tried pulling similar maneuvers that worked on the Wildcat, but to their horror, found that those maneuvers didn't work on the Hellcat, and were promptly shot down. One such example is a Zero that pulled into a large loop, with a Hellcat in pursuit. The Zero, thinking that he was fighting a Wildcat, was hoping for the aircraft to stall out, and than come down for an easy kill. Instead, the much more powerful Hellcat was able to stay in the loop, and even had energy to spare. The American closed rapidly, and shot down the Zero.

the difference in shape in the tail is because of the thrust vectoring, and the area above the intakes is build this way for stealth effects. modern combat isn't about visual reference any more, but about bvr range combat. when I add the background story (I will do that today or tommorow) you will see why the tomcat is used as base for an aircraft as modern as this one. although it looks the same, it is an entirely new aircraft.

the cost? a lot. the learning curve? even more. I suggest you start with something like sketchup or blender if you want to model.
