2nd version of Simon's transformation.

dialogue:

Simon [On tape]: Hello. My name is Simon Petrikov. I am recording this tape so that people will know my story. I was studying to be an antiquarian of ancient artifacts. Now, I never believed in the supernatural stuff myself—just had a fascination with superstitions... but everything changed when I came into contact with this item....

[Simon Petrikov slowly opens a safe and takes out an ancient sea chest].

Simon: After purchasing this chest from an mysterious sea captain in the Caribbean islands, I brought it home and excitedly showed my fiancée Betty, [opining the chest showing a still beating heart] and jokingly opened itjust for a laugh or something... and that's when it started... The voices... [Whispering] I fought with them... [Raising his voice, frightened] Shouted at them until I realized it wasn't real—it was the chest!! [closing the chest] I quickly closed it... and saw my fiancée in front of me... [Whispering] looking at me with such contempt. What had I said? What had I done when I opened the chest? All I know is I never saw Betty again and that my heart lay in the chast yet I did not die.

[Another recording activates. Simon now has tentacles erupting from his hair, green skin, and stubble on his chin. on his left arm a crab claw occupies where his left hand would be, on his right a single tentacle occupies his ring finger.]

Simon: Since then, I hear the voices always whether or not I open this chest. They tell me the secrets... the secrets of the Sea... that the power of the sea will save me with its waters. I don't yet know what this means. As you can see, my skin is beginning to turn green. My body has begun to merge with various marine life. [Begins to adopt a pirate accent] I don't be knowin' when it gunna end... I be really scared...

[Another recording activates. Simon now has a tentacle beard.]

Simon: I be knowin' me mind be changin'... but I be already too far gone to be knowin' what to do. I be needin' people to be knowin' that... if I do thin's... if I do thin's that hurt anyone, please... please forgive me.

[Another recording activates. Simon now very closely resembles Davy jones.]

Simon: Just watch over me 'til I can find a way out 'o 'tis labyrinth in me brain 'n regain me sanity!! 'n then maybe Betty, me princess... maybe ye gunna lust me again. [Sobbing] Please love me again, Betty!!
