Spock: It appears that we have arrived on Earth, at approximately the year 2013.
Bones: Strange. Last i remember, this place was beachside resort back in the 23rd Century.
Kirk: That must have been after WW3 destroyed this place. records of this town were destroyed in that war.
Spock: Captain, I do not think this landing site is suitable for maximum concealment. There is a risk that the inhabitants of this time period will take notice of our position.
Kirk: Don't Worry spock, these people can't tell the difference between a Van and a Shuttlecraft. We have to concentrate on the mission ahead.
Bones: i don't know Jim, but hat wide-eyed, french fry-haired kid over there is looking at us funny.
Kirk was also unfortunate enough to bring the Enterprise's resident Catgirl with him on this mission.

maybe Kahn fought against the gems too, and he and the other superhumans were made to combat them as super soldiers. Then when they were driven off, Kahn felt it was his duty and destiny to rule the world himself.

or the eugenics wars did happen prior to Steven's birth but they were much smaller in scale

Possibly (imagine if the crystal gems participated in that war! Maybe they felt they had to to keep everyone safe! Rose and Kahn could’ve even had an epic showdown

smaller in scale since the crystal gems figured that these Augments will not eave the gems alone and would actually try to either destroy or exploit them

“Please, Kahn, we don’t have to do this!” “Oh, but we must, Rose Quartz. It is nature for the strong to rule the weak. That is why you lead your gems, isn’t it?” (Wonder if he’d know too, that Rose is really pink diamond? Don’t know how he’d figure that out though... but it could happen.)
