Next in my ACEO fairytale series,Bluebeard.Here you can see a wip,for those who have been asking me about the size and what an ACEO is.
Also,a link for those who might not be familiar with the tale.(There are other variations too of course)
Pencil,watercolours 6.4 cm x 8.9 cm
Previously done for my fairytale series of ACEO:

Red Riding Hood
Sleeping Beauty
Snow White
And i intend to do 5 more; The Little Mermaid,Cinderella,Beauty and the Beast,The Wild Swans and Scheherazade.Then they will be up for sale.

Bluebeard has always scared me when I was little.

I love this fairy tale! A friend and I are writing a novel in 19th century gothic horror style with a retelling of Bluebeard as our introduction. It's just the way I imagined it, too! Very well done.

I love this artwork, and Bluebeard holds a special appeal for me. My grandmother lives maybe five minutes away from Bluebeard's castle, nestled in the heart of the Loire Valley. It's just a tumble of ruins now, with one cracked and lonely tower, but it always held such romantic appeal to me as a young child. I love imagining this scene taking place in my favorite old ruins (as gory and dark as the story might be).

It was my fave story growing up. What do we really know about the secrets in our lover's hearts and past? It is an important horror tale. Should be made into a movie

Yep I saw that movie; it was nice. I still think the best version I ever saw was the full, non edited version of the Nippon Fairytale Theater animation back in the early 90's. It was morbid and wonderful and I never forgot it.
They should remake the tale.
Then again, I did see the story again on an episode of Buffy....Ted was creepy and made me afraid of stepfathers forever.

As for a remake,dark versions of classic fairytales seem to be very fashionable lately,i wouldn't be surprised if they did Bluebeard too.
