Description
I have been changing the character images to show a larger version of what I would get if I load them to a scene. I also save the characters as a Scene Subset with the clothes and hair in the image, so I get what I see. Some are saved nude, because they can wear any kind of clothing or armor suits. It does no good to set them up with clothes I rarely use unless they look best on one set, and nothing looks better.
There are some full characters that are saved as a character, and it has a label on the image so you can't see what they look like. Normally, these images are small and not show what they look like because they are harder to see. I have used larger than 700x700 pixel images, but they all come out with this same size.
It looks like the blue background helps the character stand out better than have dull dark colors with faded characters. I give them more life with the bold look and the blue background.
All of the characters I created always looked like this, but now I am doing a lot for the Genesis 8 & 8.1, while there are not many Genesis 9 characters right now. I also have been converting Genesis 3 outfits into Genesis 8 & 8.1 outfits. Some of the sandals make the toes take a nose dive into the soles.
I render larger character images that I need do down size to a square frame at 1200x1200 pixels. Then I trim the corners to keep the curved corners empty, and hide the edges under a yellow border line. Then I make the names easier to see even if I need to add shading under the letters. After it looks finished I select all and copy merged to create a new image to paste it in and delete the background, and change the size to 700x700 pixels. I save it in the character folder to replace the png file it is using, even if it was a tiny blurry copy of the screen. I keep these open so I can replace them when I make changes to the model and need to save a newer version.
I have been doing this for a while and keep finding models in the character folder that I created or saved without any image, so they don't show up. I help them out by creating a folder for them, and while there is no image I see the folder with a name. Then I load them and make them look good to render a model image to use the same name as the folder. That creates the small images to the left with a white arrow showing it is a subfolder to click and open.
When I created a character I always wanted to find out how they did that, and I even learned how to make an image or icon for my website to add to the folder. Right now I do everything to make my characters look good and other peoples, so they look good for my use. Creating a regular character file seems to have a lot of rules, and it is not uncommon for other people make other character from other peoples characters that helps them sell that character, because you can get this new character kind of cheap, but to use it you need to buy this original character.
