Many people have said Twilight wasn't in character in the Movie. Many have said that Twilight wouldn't be one to just thorough her friendship right out the window. Many have said that Twilight, just wasn't herself. But Twilight was in character, the entire time, here's why.

In part 2, 3 seconds in, we are shown Twilight is panicked and her stress levels are already above average, and when someone is stressed, they tend to either, or both, over react and/or over think, which is demonstrated by her thinking the princess are at a higher standing of power than her, as demonstrated in part 2, 33 seconds . The reason for her being stressed is that she is about to hold one of the biggest parties ever in Equestria, and she even had a celebrity coming. That, would stress anybody out

However, in part 6 , it all goes south when Tempest comes and takes Equestria hostage, where Twilight, and the rest of the mane 7 barely escape. Their home was captured, and it wasn't captured by some random creature, no, it was captured by another pony, just like her. Thus her trust in anyone, slightly being diminished, but it was still high. Twilight and her friends set out to find the Queen of the Hippos, which was originally Luna's job, told be Celestia, however, Luna was captured as well, leaving the mane 7 this job.

As the Mane 7 arrive in the badlands, in part 9, 2 minutes, 11 seconds , Twilight helps a turtle like creature put his stuff away, to which she is yelled at. After realizing they need a very low profile, Pinkie Pie literally announces their arrival, and their purpose there. To which, instead of receiving help, they are swarmed and keep getting offers for their parts and themselves, as if they were some toys. Making Twilight's trust for those she doesn't know, diminish some more. The Mane 7 are saved by Capper however and are taken to his house, Twilight however, was still quite skeptical.

In part 11, 2 minutes, 27 seconds , Twilight realizes that instead of the Hippos, they must find the Hippogriffs. But once she figures this out, Virgo, a mole rat like creature who Capper owe's a lot of Money to, as shown in part 10, 2 minutes, 10 seconds , has come to take the Mane 7, thus diminishing Twilight's trust with the outside yet again. They only reason they are ale top escape, is because of Tempest arriving, and attacking Virgo.

The Mane 7 escape from Tempest again and are now on some random ship. This ship is run by a band of cargo transporting anthropomorphic birds, who are just about to throw them off, when the lunch bell rings. (Part 13, 1 minute, 21 seconds ) We learn that this is their only break time and that they dislike the Storm King too, and even though the Mane 5 + Spike all believe this, Twilight still doesn't trust them, because of previous experiences. Rainbow Dash decides to help these birds become pirates again, and ends up performing a Sonic Rain boom, which reveals their location to Tempest. Tempest comes aboard they ship as the Main 7 are shoved down into the cargo area and have to wait it out. As the conversation continues up stairs, Twilight grows more and more weary, fearing that the birds will rat them out any second now, a sign she still doesn't trust them. (Part 15, 1 minute, 58 seconds ) She acts fast and pulls a lever, sending them all into the air. She quickly crafts a make shift hot air balloon, and they float off to the mountain the hippogriffs should reside in.

The Mane 7 arrive at the mountains, only to find it empty. In part 16, 1 minute, 34 seconds , they hear a voice singing and follow it. It leads to a pond within a cave, and in the middle of the pond, is a flower, this is where the voice is coming from. However, they trip on some rocks, and scare the voice away. The voice hops into the pond and swims away. The Mane 7 follow it and are sucked down into the pond. Just before they all drown, someone is nice enough and puts air bubbles around their heads, letting them breath. This turns out to be Sky Star, the hippogriffs' princess. Sky Star leads the Mane 7 to her mother, Queen Novo, who transforms the Mane 6 into sea ponies, and Spike into a puffer fish, using their special pearl. (Part 18, 41 seconds ), Twilight then believes that Queen Novo will allow them to transform into beasts of any kind, and attack the Storm king's army. However Queen Novo objects to this idea, and does not let Twilight take the pearl. After shocking Twilight, Queen Novo must leave. Sky Star offers for the mane 7 to stay, but they have to turn the offer down. Sky Star leaves and the Mane 7 are about to leave when Twilight objects. She tells her friends to go have fun with the Princess while she thinks of a plan.

The Mane 5 + Spike go have Fun with Sky Star, which convinces Queen Novo to let them use the pearl, (Part 19, 2 minutes, 58 seconds ) However, the alarm for the pearl goes off, and they all rush over to it. In part 20, 9 seconds , it reveals Twilight trying to steal the pearl. Queen Novo, furious, kicks the Mane 7 out of their land and turns them back to normal ponies. The mane 5 + Spike are now furious at Twilight, they were about to get the Pearl. They had convinced Queen Novo! So they yell at Twilight.

Now, put yourself in Twilight's shoes. A creature, the same as you, has taken your home, your family, and your mentors. Creatures want to take all you limbs and sell you. Someone you thought you cold trust was going to sell you. More people you thought you cold trust were about to rat you out. Your last hope won't give you what you need to take back your home. And now, your friends, the people you thought you could trust forever and ever, are yelling at you,l fro trying to save not only your's but their home too? Not to mention you've put all this responsibility on your back, making you think that you have to save the day? You've done it before, why is this any different? Of course you would snap! Of course you would yell at your friends, even though they have helped you through so much. Of course you would feel sorry right after yelling and try to make things better! And that's exactly what Twilight did. Her trust was gone, and she felt she couldn't trust anyone, not even her closest friends. (Part 21, 1 minute, 15 seconds )

Now after being captured by Tempest, drained of her magic, saved by her friends, and then saved by tempest. Twilight's trust was restored. But you can bet she still feels a little guilt.

Now then, after being re informed on the movie, doesn't Twilight's action's make sense? He trust was gone, and then restored. And that's the movie's theme, all ways trust friends, no matter what. (And an edgelord horse won't capture you and take your magic)
