Description You wanted it - you've got it! Painting tutorial, illustrated by photos of making my Captain America inspired dress (aciddaisy.deviantart.com/art/C… .

Advantages: very very very easy! Everyone are capable to do it, and result still will be very neat.
Disadvantages: you can't use it for the thin and light fabrics. Stretchy fabrics are in the risk zone too. Method is not good for small, complex and detailed pictures.

I used special acrylic paint for the fabric, russian mark "Decola", silver one from the standart set. It's not too runny and not too dense.

I just want to say I love this!

Do you mind if I do this design on a dress of my own?

Is it washing machine safe? The paint?

Yes! Special acrylic paint for fabric + ironing = machine safe)
To be honest, I often used a regular acrylic paint without ironing: I wear one shirt for 4 years and painting still looks new)

Secret is to make thin layers. Before put second layer - let first layer dry a little but not too much. If first layer will be wet, painting can be not uniform. If first layer will be too dry, second layer can become separate and will peel after washing. (I don't know how to explain it on english, it's all physical chemistry of polymers)
If you can make only one layer - it will be almost impossible to remove by any solvent)))
