Thing thing is I feel Maud's pain. I have a trinket I've had almost my entire life and its my most prized possession. So I have a fear someone will find it by mistake and just destroy it having no idea how much of my world they would shatter in doing so.
This comic hurts even more knowing that this possession was also Maud’s only friend for most of her life. And after this horrific experience happens she would not be able to give up the little statue or even the finite shards of it, but it would cause her pain to look at it forever. Even thinking of it would cause immense pain but it would feel like a betrayal to give up on it.
Dang it this comic speaks to me on so many levels as I empathize with Maud so much.

well a ribbon at least has a use of say tying something up. maybe hair. a small rock like boulder isn't much use beyond well a pet rock.
