Description I came across someone who said that if you find body hair gross, well then you're a horrible person who deserves nothing but scorn. What? What's wrong with shaving and wanting to look clean and presentable? If you don't want to shave, go ahead. Just don't be surprised if people find your surplus hair kind of nasty.

Also, if somebody wants to use makeup and to look nice, then they have every right to do so. Just let people be.

A change up is nice some time.

Agreed. The people who pull the "You're giving in to the Patriarchy" thing with women who shave, dress up, are feminine, or wear makeup and piercings need a good slap upside the head.

Exactly!

Wish someone told that mom from Law & Order: Criminal Intent. (If you don't like CI, then that is ok.)

Yeah. I personally don't like wearing make up, but if other people want to wear it than let them. And same for the shaving/not shaving thing. Is it really a crime if a guy has a lot of body hair? I do find it...kind of not pleasent to look at but I'm not rude about it I just don't say anything and leave it be.

Well in one way I can see their point. You just said yourself that shaving and cutting is wanting to look clean and presentable. There is nothing dirty or unpresentble about someone's natural self unless they really are dirty as in don't take a bath. A lot of people do think that way. While I don't think someone is a horrible person, I do think that line of thinking is wrong. It leads to body image problems for those who can't change or are perfectly content with being how nature intended them to be. Society puts too much stress on having to change oneself in order to be presentable.

Now that isn't to say that someone wanting to wear makeup or anything is wrong. I'm perfectly content with my natural self, but I do like to wear make up once in a while to just give me a different look. However, it has nothing to do with making me presentable. If I had to wear makeup to look presentable I'd be out of there in ten seconds flat.

I honestly think you come up with some great arguments. I just don't think that like people shouldn't be shamed for not shaving, people who shave shouldn't feel ashamed either. I should probably rewrite that. It is their body after all and I can't tell them what do do with it. I just think people should do what they want and if they want to look nice, then what's the problem?

I don't wear make up much either, hardly ever. But women are sometimes shamed for wearing it, like they have no self esteem without it.

And I agree. People should be able to do what they think would make them look nice without shame for being natural or dressing up. As long as they aren't going to far with dressing up to where it becomes a problem for them I don't see the problem. Now if someone freaks out every little bit they don't look exactly right because they don't have makeup or whatever that would be a problem if not a disorder. It would depend on the situation.

And I'll agree that is horrid.
