Looks beautiful, although I would prefer the original wheels. Looks very nice indeed, shame is not in NSW ! :/

.....wondering about the interior....

I have the original wheels for it but preferred 15 inch wheels. The interior is actually in great condition, with the exception of the dash, which is pretty much cracked on every single one ive seen. If you are serious, im selling it for $4,000 at the moment with the orig wheels..

Haha.. they are cool aren't they. I always dreamed of owning one but never thought id find one as they are extremely rare all over the planet. When this one came up, I couldn't help but put in an offer!

Interesting exercise! I would assume that would cost a fair bit though. If you desperately wanted one, id try and look in the UK or somewhere in EU and import one (not sure where you live in the world). Mine for example id let go for about 5 grand AUD. They aren't that expensive.

Yeah america is one of thos eplaces where if its over ten years old it gets really really cheap.
but if its a classic in pristine condition without restoration will go for alot.
our 72' impala my family has is worth about 50k because its a unrestored running and looks great

Is this the Group B rally variant of the BX? It's pretty cool-looking!

aconnoll In reply to hexicateonline [2014-01-21 06:34:37 +0000 UTC]

No, but I wish it was!

I saw that the Group B rally variant had the rear red vinyl stickers and really liked them, so I got some made up for my particular model Its just a normal 16V

From what I've read it seems like there's not much difference between the 'commercial' 16V and the Group B version because of the requirements for homologation.

Really? I was under the impression that the BTC was 4x4 and turbo.. but hey, I could be completely wrong. The 16V shares the same motor as the Peugeot. It's a beast of an engine though!

Not only that, I think the whole front of the car looks fairly different with 4 big square spotlights.

hexicateonline In reply to aconnoll [2014-01-21 23:36:05 +0000 UTC]

I think the rally version used the same PSA XU9 naturally-aspirated engine - the motor got a lot of attention because it put out a lot of horsepower for the time without turbo.

I do know that with my engine, you can change the inlet cam (leave the exhaust cam), and advance timing a tad, and get like 15% more power. That's what people do here in Aus. That's supposedly before even a tune or anything.

I'm quite happy with the power it has now, its fun to drive already I have a super sports bike anyway for when I want to go stupidly fast.

That's pretty cool. I can't imagine there's many of this beast knocking about Australia though. They were rare enough in Europe.

You're welcome!

That would be cool.
I never knew they were sold on Australia (then again, I never knew they were sold in Japan too), are there a lot of BX around?

They are ultra rare here in Australia. I know of perhaps 2 others (in running order) in my city.

Then you're very lucky to have one, and in that shape!
They are starting to become a rare thing to see, even here some people is surprised when they see mine..

Take care of her

This is,by far, your best modeling evaaaar!

Hmm, the 16v came on two of the largest cc engines for the BX19. The first modern engine that I came to realize had more valves per cylinder was the quattrovalvole. I've always been very impressed when cars come with more than 2 valves per cylinder. Quite the little power-plant under the hood and quite the sharp looking ride.

...you should really block off the license plate number.

Hahaha.. Thanks Mann.

This indeed is a very rare and precious car, not only in Australia but throughout the world. This one is in particularly good condition engine wise also. It pulls like a freight train and spins the brand new tyres around the corners in 3rd gear! That would be due to half of the damn car being literally plastic! haha.. the bonnet and hatch are made of ABS plastic! Keeps the weight down that's for sure.

To be honest, I Pepsi challenge anyone to find the location of the car and gain entry to the very secure house. Once entry is gained, a pit bull and a shar pei would be recorded on CCTV having something to say about it haha..

Mann-of-LaMancha In reply to aconnoll [2014-01-15 17:35:10 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, I wasn't aware of that. my brother had a Chevy Chevelle that my dad and I built the engine for, which allowed my brother to chirp the tires in each gear in a drag race, but that was a 350 V8, that your 4 cylinder can spin tires in third gear describes how much torque the engine has. Very impressive.

Its more about identity theft than outright theft. They have your name via your account, I don't know how the dept of motor vehicles (or whatever you call it) works in your country, but here, it wouldn't be hard to pay a modest amount to obtain a history for the vehicle, which would include each address the car was registered at...
With a name and address, identity theft is almost complete, then they start to ruin your credit history

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

aconnoll In reply to Mann-of-LaMancha [2014-01-15 23:18:18 +0000 UTC]

Here, they do not release any addresses of ANY past or present car ownership. That's just mad!!! haha..

Either way, I drive around with the plates displayed on the road. What is the difference. People can clearly read the plates. I really don't see why people cover plates up. You may as well just keep the car in the garage and never drive it for fear of someone seeing the plate! lol It's a pointless exercise. If a car is rare and worth money, competent thieves will always find a way to find it.

Mann-of-LaMancha In reply to aconnoll [2014-01-16 00:35:57 +0000 UTC]

Well, that's the difference between here and there I suppose. Here, you can pull up a vehicle history based on a tag, but you can't get the person's name; which is pretty essential for identity theft. This is why the average person on the street can't do identity theft while seeing your car on the road.

However, to keep things in perspective, my dad used to have a saying about such things "locks keep honest people; honest."

You don't lock the door to keep honest people out, and no decent thief will let a lock stop them, so why do we bother locking our doors?

The same can be said here. Why make it easier for someone to take something from you?

The shorter version of this is "better to be safe, than sorry".

About your car, I used to have a decent condition car that was a bit of a collectable,so I understand your feeling about it. Actually, I've had a couple of what turned out to be collectable cars, but sadly I never kept them.

My first car was a 1973 Mercury Cougar, this was a hardly known collector car, because many people didn't realize it was a collector car. Even most collects have argued about it with me until I showed them proof otherwise. It was called "the bronze age" collection, which was only available in 1973. You could get a regular mercury cougar or a bronze age mercury cougar. Most people thought it was a custom or modified XR-7, but it wasn't and was offered on actually four different model lines for 1973.
I had gotten the car from my mom, and I sold it to my friend who got it cheap. His brother who was fronting him the money was an ass though and contended to me that it was an XR7 and I didn't know what I was talking about. I wasn't trying to talk him up in money but just explain what a deal he was getting. I believe that car was 1 of 700 made.

Foolish people who think they know "everything". :sigh:

The other car I had was a 1989 chevrolet camaro IROC convertible (the last year they made an IROC camaro). Unfortunately for me, I bought it new, had it broken into (they sliced open the top (fools! the doors were unlocked for just such an act! (the insurance companies don't insure the tops here))), then I was visited by Hurricane Andrew, so I moved from Florida (no snow) to New York (mostly snow) and the car wasn't meant for the snow really. So I had to sell it, and again, the person buying it got a better deal than it was really worth.
That was one of 2500 made that year, and as the last year, it was therefore a collectable.

:sigh: such is life...
