yep, it basically comes down to VRay materials, nothing magic about it thoughΒ (most VISMATs of which you can just obtain for free from the internet). Then its a matter of overlaying the 2D export from Sketchup onto the VRay render in PS, and adding a touch of flare with PS (more overlays, artistic filters, etc..).
Check out my coffee machine render. I show all three stages, 1) 2D line export, 2) raw VRay and 3) after combining and adding your own touch in PS.

thought so. i was going to do a tutorial on using that plugin for making a vehicle but unfortunately i dont have time atm. subdivision is a good skill to master, and its in virtually in every other 3d aplication. which makes me wander why it isn't in sketchup by default.
