Description
A nicer, retouched version of an earlier picture. Called Wagratan, they air from a place called Grezlikar, a terraformed planet where life wasn't able to prosper as well as in Earth. With two moons and small tectonic plates to give unpredictable ties and without superior predators (either terrestrial or marine) Cirripeda became the dominant life form there. Fierce competition among the barnacles for the extraordinarily rich and abundant plankton in Grezlikar seas induced growth and enormous diversification, creating highly peculiar biota over the almost flat continents. Eventually, a technological species that made use of tools to control the flow of ties and, hence, the precious plankton arose.
Albeit displaying the same level of intellect as the most pervasive space faring species, Wagratan have never been able to create a Kardashev II civilization. An atavism towards the “swamping” instinct of their ancestors, in which they avoid predators by overcrowding their spot, is believed to play a great part on their general lack of interest in exploration. The frequent quarrel between individuals for resources or material possessions has been a constant thorn for all Wagratan history and another decisive factor in hindering their technological and scientific progress, although, unlike humans, it has very rarely led to physical conflict and only three internal wars between Wagratan have been recorded.
Wagratan are pacifistic and exceed in matters such as administration, logistics, economics, computers or actuarial science. These creatures have a reputation amongst other intelligent species of being boring in direct contact but there are numerous testaments about their sense of humor, general nice disposition and tendency of males to boast about their comparatively quite long hidden genitals, especially in front of Humans.
