Description A stop-motion puppet built for a short film project based on H P Lovecraft's "The Shadow Out of Time". This gentleman is an intelligence from Yith, housed in one of the primitive conical beings, that, according to Lovecraft, inhabited our world at the beginning of time.

Thanks! That's pretty much what I tried to achieve.

The Yith was certainly fun to build and animate. It was my first Lovecraftian puppet, and the work on it really made me appreciate Lovecraft's wild imagination.

I love the short film, along with the story and especially these guys. Can i buy a latex cast of this guy?

Thanks! Well, I don't have a single mould for the entire puppet. I used several to create the parts of the body, and I don't have any more glass eyes of this sort. I'll have to think about how a copy could be made without taking a lot of time. Latex is unfortunately also a material that will deteriorate after just a few years, so it's really not a good material for lasting things.

Thank you! It wasn't a big headache animating this fellow, but it did take time

I greatly admire the way that you captured the look and feel of Lovecraft's creatures; you do them so very well!

Great work. I'm reading this story at the moment, coincidentally. When Lovecraft described his creatures at all, he did so in intricate detail, but with forms so alien that they were hard to picture. To recreate one this vividly is quite an achievement.

They really are weird, but as a puppet-maker I'm drawn to Lovecraft's creatures. They're certainly a challenge!

Looks great.

Have been toying with doing a picture with these creatures some time in the future. Just waiting for the stars to be right.
