Deep within the earth is a world known as VERJULEN, or so it had been named by its REPULOX builders from the stars. It was a hidden colony by the bird like REPULOX, hidden from their KRATIKON enemies, and also the rest of the earth. In time this world was forgotten once the REPULOX had been destroyed by the demonic KRATIKON aliens, yet it also formed societies and a history of its own.

Within this world exists various dinosaur like beings, as well as bizarre human and animal hybrid species that were made as a result of early REPULOX experiments on the humans that populated their secret hide away within the earth. There were those that were half reptile, half cat, half insect and so on,not to mention regular human beings. In the old times the REPULOX passed down various systems of order, but after they fell a great madness came upon the land of VERJULEN, and beings once united became each others enemies.

The ancient wars between the different races of VERJULEN born sentients lasted for quite a while, yet various alliances were made, then broken as history went on. Finally, a wizard born of regular human blood rose to unite the different warring tribes against their greater enemy, a demonic creature of great evil known as GORGONUS.

The legends of VERJULEN say that one of the bird men turned against the others, siding with the KRATIKON for the promise that the earth could be his. However, as they had slain the other REPULOX, the KRATIKON repair their new ally by scarring him and removing not only his wings but his other avian features by corrupting old REPULOX technology. They left him within VERJULEN and sealed it off, trapping the one who was actually a half breed between the REPULOX and the KRATIKON. He had grown angry, and in his madness and desire to escape he had abused the people of VERJULEN and initiated the wars in the first place. He had used the "forbidden technology" as the VERJULENS" called it to continually alter his appearance, until soon he had acquired shape shifting abilities naturally, not to mention an understanding of mystic energies that originally attracted both the REPULOX and the KRATIKON to earth in the first place. He had become a powerful sorcerer, in edition to his other augmentations, and while the different races fought amongst themselves he was planning the creation of his own empire.

A human warrior known as ARGOX had united the races once and for all, yet sadly it was too late, as by this time GORGONUS had grown far too powerful. He had killed the many chiefs of the different tribes, including ARGOX, and thus a great darkness came upon the land of VERJULEN. For the next 500 years in fact, GORGONUS had transformed VERJULEN into a world of barbaric nightmares. He had corrupted the many VERJULEN races to be his psychic slaves, yet hope was not lost, for the ARGOX WIZARDS were still preparing for a day when the one born of ARGOX blood would become their champion.

Then, one day, a young boy was born to a humble mason and his wife. They lived in the wilderness, far from the BLACK FORTRESS in the middle of VERJULEN or any of the DARK CITIES where all served GORGONUS or died. They chose to live as far from the BLACK FORTRESS as possible, and raised their son in peace. They named him STARGON.

When the boy was of eight years, the wilderness community he grew up in was suddenly attacked by the CURSED MEN, individuals given a BLACK STAR like creature upon their face that filled their minds with the madness of GORGONUS. They stole the children and transformed the adults into CURSED MEN, covering their faces with the psychic parasites of GORGONUS. They too STARGON and the other children to a DARK CITY, where they would either be sold into slavery or fed to one of the creatures that GORGONUS controlled. Luckily none of these things would happen, for one of the WIZARDS arrived and gave his life to help the children escape to one of the CITIES OF LIGHT. It was these places where GORGONUS and his forces could not enter, and it was here that STARGON was recognized by WIZARD COUNCIL, for he was the heir of ARGOX. They told STARGON that he was to become as ARGOX once was, only greater, for in order to.become what the BIRD MEN envisioned he would need to find what they called the FIVE SHARDS. They were actually pieces of circuitry for the ancient technology, yet the WIZARD COUNCIL saw them as sacred objects which would empower the GREAT CHAMBER. Long ago ARGOX went inside this chamber but without the FIVE SHARDS, thus he only gained temporary genetic enhancements. When STARGON was 17 he embarked on this quest, aided by a female wizard known as LUMA and a tiger-man mercenary known as MAZZO. The sorceress LUMA was attractive yet was like an older sister to STARGON, whereas MAZZO was a tough love warrior who told it like it was. He hated GORGONUS for his own reasons, thus this was the rare time he took a job without a fee.

Their journey was long and hard, for they had to travel to the five corners of VERJULEN, a hidden land within the earth that was shaped like a star. He had learned many hard lessons in his youth, lost many friends, yet LUMA and MAZZO were always at his side. In time he got the shards of fire, water, earth, wind and lightning. They were named as such due to their locations being a molten wasteland, underwater ruins of an Atlantean civilization that predated even VERJULEN, a forest community where MAZZO once lived, a high mountain city where the BIRD MEN once lived and observed VERJULEN and finally an abandoned workshop where the MEN OF METAL were once forged before GORGONUS had outlawed the "forbidden science". However, it was such forbidden science that the WIZARDS have been using for the past 500 years, in edition to magics they discovered on their own. With all five shards in their possession, STARGON and the others set off for the SECRET COUNCIL CITY. However, on their way there, MAZZO and LUMA would sadly perish. First was MAZZO who gave his own life in a battle with the one that had slain his own family, yet he took the LIZARD MAN with him. Then sadly, just before they reached, the city, LUMA was shot by an arrow of one of the CURSED MEN. He was then burned alive, a penalty for destroying such a powerful sorceress, an enchantment placed upon her and other wizards by the WIZARD COUNCIL. He stayed with her until the very end, held her hand even, then her body became energy that rose to the sky. A thunder roared and rain fell upon him, not to mention despair, yet he remembered not just her but also MAZZO and all they sacrificed. He would live for them, then destroy GORGONUS and take apart his dark empire.

STARGON returned to the council, gave them the FIVE SHARDS, then went within the GREAT CHAMBER. His body was mutated by a strange cosmic light, and suddenly he was strong enough to smash boulders with his hands and leap over mountains if he so desired. He was impervious to harm, and finally he was given the weapon of his ancestors ARGOX, the BLADE OF JADE. Now empowered by the FIVE SHARDS, this weapon first forged by the masons of old Atlantis could now control fire, water, earth, wind and lightning. So it was, the wizards also used the FIVE SHARDS to summon forth the might of the sleeping FIVE ARMIES, born from mixtures of ancient Atlantean magic and VERJULEN science. Leading the FIVE ARMIES was STARGON, and soon VERJULEN would know the end of the great darkness.

So it was, STARGON and GORGONUS met in battle, yet GORGONUS was more powerful than ever, in dark magic and alien science alike. He towered over STARGON like a dragon would a mouse, in his mightiest form anyway, and by all rights not even STARGON could have survived this battle normally. However, what STARGON and GORGONUS did not know, was that LUMA had left an enchantment upon STARGON before her passing. Her leftover magics affected the BLADE OF JADE, which caused STARGON to leap up and stab GORGONUS in the heart, seemingly killing him. He disappeared in a green light, never to.l be seen in VERJULEN ever again. Then, for some reason, STARGON turned to stone. The voice of LUMA told him, "You will be needed in the days beyond, the night of STARGON must stand with others, for the great evil shall rise beyond the realms of the inner star. You will unite the outer world and the inner world, for tomorrow brings the darkness once again, and against the darkness we must bring the light. Sleep STARGON, sleep and know this battle is won".

So it was, as an empire fell, a new order rose in place of it. The FIVE REALMS surrounded the kingdom of ARGOXA, and the WIZARD COUNCIL would help the SIX KINGDOMS live in harmony, even with the lands beyond them which were often chaotic. They also sent one of their own to the OUTER WORLD, for they learned GORGONUS was there, weaker yet still a threat. SEVEN SACRED SWORDS were forged with similarities to the BLADE OF JADE, and the wizard chose warriors from all across the world to bear them, such as HIROTO SATO of ancient Japan. This wizard would eventually perish, but not before the talking ape GORZUMA became his apprentice, waiting for the day when the GORGONUS BREED cult would succeed in rebuilding their unholy master after HIROTO SATO and the others destroyed his physical form in that era.

In time, specifically the 21st Century, an unusual statue would be found by mystery hunter HUGO KING in what used to be an old Nazi bunker somewhere in South America of all places. HUGO and his assistant GWEN wondered what it was, when suddenly toons from the PROTEUS CORPORATION demanded they abandon the statue. They were dressed in high tech exo-armor, made from designs stolen from the GEMINI PROJECT, and were ready to attack HUGO and GWEN. Then the statue started glowing green, and soon STARGON was reborn, aiding HUGO KING against the PROTEUS MEN. So it was, a new age had dawned, for STARGON had returned.
