Description
I'd bought some Cretacolor Monolith Graphite sketch sticks several years ago and had never gotten around to properly using them. This is the first full sketch/drawing done with them and I wanted to try out/see how well they could be used for graded shading and tone. There was no plan or deliberate design for this image, with the 2B in hand I closed my eyes and put down 30 seconds of random lines and swirls on the paper. The forms and spaces created were then either filled or shaded in and blended using cotton buds and fingers.

Scanned in the yesterday at the wrong settings so used Lightroom to downscale the 1200dpi tiff to a 600dpi jpeg and it's still a tad on the large side.
