A while ago I drew a mechanical human head and the idea of robot/clockwork stuff has stuck with me for a while. One day I was trying to take a nap but I had left my watch on and it was making this annoying ticking noise right by my ear. Because I couldn't sleep (yes, I was too lazy to take the watch OFF) I got to thinking about the fact that the sound was coming from the turning of gears. When I thought about the sound of clockwork, I imagined the gears to be making a whirring sound. And that's when I thought of hummingbirds.

This is a low-quality print of my original sketch, which I then coloured with pencil crayons (also low-quality ) so sorry if it gets grainy up close. I hope you enjoy it anyway!
