"You have a crush on him!" was what Moriel said. A crush? The idea was ridiculous. Crushes were something carefree children had, not someone like him.
Even so, he couldn't deny that his heart beat a little faster at those words. "I'll protect him with my life."
No one had ever told him something like that.

It was harmless fun. A drink, two drinks, three drinks.
Intoxicated, the two shared stories as they promised they would.
Lips were looser with alcohol, and so the two bonded.

But not all went well.
Insecurities creeped into their careless words, turning happy words into flaming ones.
Laughter turned into confessions of worry.
"I don't want you to die."
"I'm not that weak."
Through bad feelings they found each other in ways they never expected, but still craved.
A secret, unveiled.

He did it. Crossed that last bridge, gave in to his wishes... and it scared him.
What if they couldn't go back? What if this meant the end of it all?
What if, what if, what if.
Unsure of what to do, he sought out an old friend, someone who knew those feelings all too well.
Her words were kind, but she did not have an answer.
Still, through her wise words, he made up his mind.
He had to kill it.

Forgetting meant keeping his mind busy.
Keeping his mind busy meant seeing new faces.
It made sense to him. If there was someone else, he'd surely forget.
It didn't matter if it wasn't the same feeling. Someone, anyone, would do.
But they wouldn't do.
Feelings aren't so easily erased.

SO, THIS WAS A VERY EVENTFUL PROMPT FOR YA BOY LEVI!!! Not only did he realize that he has a crush, he had enough time to freak out about it, make ALL the wrong choices and decide to kill it off because feelings are Hard and he's an idiot.
A little chronology of events since my writing is an absolute mess and doesn't cover everything:
Moriel, Levi and Lance go eat together. Moriel catches on really quickly and throws in the good ol' Doubt in Levi's head;
The boys have a talk and agree to tell each other about themselves to each other over drinks;
Shortly after they get drunk (again) and have a heated argument over Lance's safety that ends up taking an unexpected turn;
Levi freaks out over it and talks to Annette about his feelings, making up his mind that he won't go through with this crush for the sake of their friendship;
Levi decides that he should find someone else to direct those weird feelings towards and meets Lars. Lance sees them but keeps it to himself out of respect, though he's not quite happy about it.
The two are still very much friends, but there's some undeniable awkwardness between them now. ☺️

The song - Low Roar's Easy Way Out - is one of Levi's theme songs, though in his case the easy way out is running from his problems and making excuses instead of facing them, which is something he's VERY good at.
I don't think I have a lot to say about it on a technical level? I tried to show a bit of narrative evolution through grayscale and tried to keep the lines a little looser, but I'm not sure how successful I was in both, sweats--
