Levi panted on the floor, hand still clutching his own neck. The bite had already been healed enough to stop bleeding, but that didn’t mean he was fine – in fact, he was far from it.

This was the second time he met death up close. This was the second time it scarred him – physically and emotionally…

But it was the first time it came for him.

For the Playing Gods event!

This took a LOT longer to come up with than I thought it would lol........ I had to go through 3 different compositions before tossing them all up and deciding that instead of trying to make yet another semi-comic illustration, I just wanted to do something simple to convey despair. You could say this is inspired by a NGE poster that I won't link here because now that I think about it, I don't know if it's fanmade--

Shortly after his less than pleasant meeting , Levi got to witness the introduction of a new count and with him, new allies. He was less than pleased about the sudden changes, but kept it to himself as they were apparently all working towards the same goal. He had enough time to meet up with a good friend before hell broke loose, forcing him to ignore his still healing injury to fight and protect Iadlain. To him, it was a bit of a personal task as well - the death of the girl a while ago still hurt, and he was determined to make amends this time.
Levi's monster encounter was with a specially violent beallan that chewed on him hard. Its last attack before being slain was a bite on Levi's neck. With the beallan gone, he only had one thing to worry about: not bleeding out to death. Though Levi managed to heal himself and survive, the encounter has definitely marked both his body and mind in way he won't ever forget.

Title is from Drakengard 3's This Silence is Mine , which doesn't really have anything to do with the event or the illustration, I just really love the song LOL
