Description
Another one for the Brainy Batman Badguy Brigade - Edward Nigma, also known as the Riddler. With an appearance by Jonathan Crane! (ever the bookworm, bless his evil little heart)Now for the advertising: these character designs are for an online fanfiction project known as the CATverse. CAT is written by Deviantart's very own BiteMeTechie and CapitanTwinings, being an an ongoing (and unendingly amusing) series of stories detailing the exploits of a trio of professional hench-women (professional, that is, when not beset by hormones, or faking their own deaths, or accidentally makin' eldritch and unwholesome deals with strange Southern Gentlemen) and their long-suffering employer, Jonathan Crane.
In all probability, more CAT-related drawings will follow.
The CATverse can be found here: [link]
Both the Scarecrow and the Riddler belong to DC. I just take 'em for walkies on Tuesdays.

Oh cool, you really don't see a lot of fan art for the Time Sale style Riddler.

It was the Tim Sale/Jeph Loeb collaborations that got me into Batman in the first place, so it kinda stuck...as you can see! (It's much snappier than that spandex number, anyway).

Me too. My favourite plot arc remains Hush, but the first comic I read was The Long Halloween.

Hrm. I must confess I really didn't go bananas about Hush - I thought the rapid-fire villain cameo-cramming didn't work quite as well as it did in the Loeb/Sale collabs.
But then, I've read relatively few of the comics. Any you'd recommend scouting out?

If you've read Dark Victory, then look up Catwoman: When in Rome. It's very good. Also... I'm fond of Scarecrow Year One, and Arkham Asylum: Living Hell.

AHA! When In Rome - that's another Loeb/Sale collab, izzinit? I'll definitely keep an eye out for it!
I've... definitely heard about Scarecrow Year One. I need to find out what everyone's talking about.
My recs? You've probably read 'em already, they're pretty basic.
Miller's Batman: Year One, and The Dark Knight Returns (I don't like its portrayal of the Joker, but Batman giving Superman the beating of his life is another story...)
Um... Alan Moore's The Killing Joke.
Mad Love (by Paul Dini).
Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth.
Aaaaaand I also heartily recommend the animated series, mainly volumes 1-3. (Plus the animated movie "Mask of the Phantasm" and the Batman/Superman movie - tons of giggles there.)

It is, yes. And about finding them, I have electronic copies of both should you want them :3 Also, I would reccomend Low, if you can find it; it's attached to Detective Comics #797-799 (The War Games plot arc) and is the aftermath of Pushback as far as The Riddler is concerned, and a turning point in his time-line between his bigger gigs and his amnesia.
Year One I have read, the latter I have not.
Killing Joke I read, gave me the shivers but it is very good.
Mad Love... I think I saw it in the bookstore, I'll look it up.
And that last one I have certainly been on the lookout for. Thanks for all the recs! XD
Well, I've got all of The Batman which is good but not very true to the comics at all, and I've seen one episode of the Animated Series (Riddler's Reform) which I did heartily enjoy, so will do.

Well, I've had terrible luck finding Scarecrow Year One around here, so...I might take you up on that one! That would be awesome indeed!
You've seen Mad Love in stores? It's ridiculously hard to find - out of print and all. It's in the anthology "Dangerous Dames and Demons", but on its own, not so common. (I once saw a copy in Quebec City for 15 bucks. And didn't buy it. I now flog myself daily by way of penance.)
I...haven't seen much of The Batman. (To be honest, on the basis of what they did to the Joker and Harley Quinn, I'm not the hugest fan so far.)
Oh, and the Batman/Superman movie is on Youtube - good fun, smart script. And, of course, free.

Yes Eddie in a jumpsuit is also weird in that show, but it's cute. =3
Ooh, you're from Quebec? Is it true that the region is in the shape of a dragon's head? I live in The Philippines, although I'm Scottish.
Well, I have it in picture form not a .cbr so if you PM your msn or email or something I'll send it to you. It'd be nice to chat as well.

Heh, no, I'm not from Quebec - I just went there for a French immersion program over the summer. I dunno about the dragon head thing... There's lots of snowmobiles there though. And sugar pie. And random nativity scenes.
I'm from Alberta - it's mountains and prairies for me!
Philippines? Goodness, you're pretty far from home! Scottish you say? That's my family's heritage, man! (I haven't been there - yet - but I know a bit of Scots Gaelic.)
Cool beans! I don't have msn, but I'll note you my email!
