Well I'm finally back from vacation and man do I have a lot of ground to cover. Thank you for extensions!
Did this a little less than 2 weeks ago. Being on the beach I couldn't help but think about how good a reference it would have been for my whamon entry. Then I started to look at the sand and it was so fine textured...then I found a small abandoned bucket and then I just went screw it I'm sculpting. Not bad for something created with just a plastic knife and a little bucket.
Unfortunately mabamon didn't last very long after I built him. I left to wash off came back...destroyed. Why do kids like to destroy my sand sculptures! I don't understand!
The board was mine. Figured it would be good to add it to the picture since it matched my entry.

It's funny you'd say that though. You'd think I'd be able to build a sand castle if I could do something like this, but I honestly I can't build a sandcastle to save my life XD Something about hard surface projects throws me off.

It's not just your sand sculptures, kids destroy ANY sculptures! It's unfortunate. I'm glad you got a picture first, though, because he is AWESOME!!

Lol I know... Sometimes I just want to sit one down and pick their brain to figure out where they get their urge to destroy.

Yeah, see, I would have said 'ew, I don't want to get sand in my camera,' and then when I got back I would have cried...

Then the parents get upset and all hell breaks loose. But I caught the kids still jumping on the remains so I scolded them a bit. Ask them if it was their work and then told them what they did wasn't nice.
Lol but I generally have a bucket of water near me so I can at least clean my hands. Don't like sand on my camera either.

I can definately picture a sculpture of thistlemon laying in the sand tanning with a pair of shades on... None of the little boys would destroy that XD I can only imagine the people trying to guess what she is. I swear if you try to build something not commonly known you get some crazy guesses.

I think it was roughly around 3 hours.
The main bulk of the time was sand prep (piling the sand, getting the sand moist and packing the sand). Only having a small bucket to work with was not easy x_x.

If there is one thing I've learned about sand sculpting it's to take pictures right after you finish making it. Stuff like that has a tendency to happen.
Kenmon would be interesting if you could get him actual size. But his blade would give me problems... Curse you hard surface sculpting! Lol
