In the spirit of her character from before the 2011 reboot, Kara gives a firm opinion...I sometimes feel Powergirl was one of DC's more misunderstood characters, with wide off the mark assumptions made about her character purely from her outfit. If her detractors actually tried to familiarise themselves with the character from 1986 to 2011, i think they would find a character who is much more interesting than she is often given credit for.
Originally i was going to draw her with her gold outfit, then i thought about drawing her most recognised outfit, but then i decided that to really make my point that people should never base their opinion about a persons personality purely on their clothing, I gave her as skimpy an outfit as possible, with a mock pinny/apron with her own opinion dividing costume on that ( the apron idea was inspired by a comedy artwork of Wonderwoman i saw and the words on the apron are inspired from one of CallMePo's artworks ).
Admittedly, and rather disappointingly, her 'New 52' DC Universe persona seems to fit the general assumptions that were made about her character.

Ah I see, they tried changing her personality along with her outfit? wow. But I guess it's what DC intended. Wonder if they're gonna put her in Injustice anytime soon...they just added Scorpion from Mortal Kombat (Which I totally saw coming since the same developers worked on it)

I agree. Power Girl is one of my favorite DC superheros bar none. I love her attitude as well as he back story. I think as afar as strong females go in comics she has one of the worse raps of all of them. The sad part is she has awesome comics (Standalone and team based comics) but most people seem to over look that on the simple facts that she has a "boob window" and is a little top heavy. The work put out today with PG in it is some of the dumbest cases yet.. but I digress. I have my Power Girl comics and an a fan... I guess thats all that matters. Nice art and sorry for... all of my mess. XD

Well, Adam you know my feelings about Karen Rao/Starr and how I felt DC misused her character repeatedly. I've always thought she was brave, adventurous, a little bit reckless at times, but after all, she is a heroine. And just because she happens to be busty, they seem to keep her a second class hero, and give her writers that never understand her back story and keep revising it for the worse.
I know DC would never give up the copyright on her character, but I've often thought how much better she could have been developed and better stories and plots written at a place like Dark Horse or Big Dog Ink or any of the independent publishers.

I also hold some hope that they might put her in a live action move... But if they did I'm almost 100% sure they will butcher her on the silver screen. We can always hold out hope.

I still think my fan idea of Powergirl having that different family name of 'Rao' from Supergirl's 'El' seemed a nice way to separate them.
I think Powergirl is one of those characters who will keep on being revised, it's just a shame that the recent DC revision seems to have got her wrong in a manner that none of the other revisions had done.

I like the 'Rao' name for Kara as well, gives her a separate family identity.
It's obvious Peegee's current writers have totally ignored her past history to create their new one.

The strange thing is the writer of the New 52 version is the same guy who wrote at least some of her early stories back in the 70's

So, essentially by bringing in a writer from PG's past they are attempting to change any continuity she has had since then? Small problem--once a bell is rung it cannot be unrung. The comics are out there and people such as yourself will remember and document her history and continue to ask questions as to why it was changed.
Kinda reminds me of the 'Wizard of Oz' - "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain"!
