Description
This is the cover I did for the hardcover trade paperback collection of Dark Horse Comic's first SERENITY comic-book miniseries, based on Joss Whedon's tv show & movie.Yet another digital colorization of a gray tonal drawing.
18" X 27" on sketchbook/pad paper; pencil, ink, marker, white paint, Berol Prismacolor pencil, and then Photoshop CS2.
FIREFLY was the bestest, shiniest tv show. Ever.
At the very least, it was my favorite.

Just spent the last two days revisiting the series, and the movie in order... I REALLY miss these characters. With all the garbage they have on television these days, canceling Firefly was a travesty.

i ran across the Comic a few months back after searching for what seemd like forever. complete accident it was. just saw it there saying "hey you BUY me!!!" so i did. and it was worth it.

I actually have that picture on my wall. Really great work, it has subtlty and the look of adventure to it (unlike a lot of posters they do for similar prohjects these days which seem to be a facial shot of a celebrity with a name on it - disappointing)
A really good piece of work. The sepia nature adds that extra little element of tear-to-my-eye about its cancellation.

I just watched the last episode of the firefly series today.An now i'm sad because the tv show got canceled.and it was so so so good.

my show favorite too. I cant believe the show was canceled. I personally thought that the characters in the movie Serenity didnt have their personalities from the show.

Well, the movie had to fulfill some specific requirements, so I think the characters had to be 'moviefied'.
Above that, FOX (the network that ran Firefly) made Joss Whedon & crew soften the angst of Mal and make the characters a little more humorous than Mr. Whedon originally intended. I personally feel that in the film SERENITY, Joss got to make the characters (especially Mal) the way he originally wanted to do them on the show.
Just a guess.
