This is the cover I did for the hardcover trade paperback collection of Dark Horse Comic's first SERENITY comic-book miniseries, based on Joss Whedon's tv show & movie.Yet another digital colorization of a gray tonal drawing.
18" X 27" on sketchbook/pad paper; pencil, ink, marker, white paint, Berol Prismacolor pencil, and then Photoshop CS2.
FIREFLY was the bestest, shiniest tv show. Ever.
At the very least, it was my favorite.

This Drawing makes me miss Firefly. I'll be watching it over the next few days along with Dr. Horrible. I''m doing a Captain Hammer and Dr. Horrible sculpt, and I can add this drawing to my Nathan reference.

ItΒ΄s great, but... The face of Zoe Washburne (Gina Torres) seems to me strange. ItΒ΄s her, but at the same time itΒ΄s not. A great genious of the pencil like you (Hey!) could draw his face perfect, but maybe you add a lot of your personal woman style to her. ItΒ΄s not bad at the end, but as I said, itΒ΄s not plenty her. The position of the face is the same that you have, and you can see that I said (round face, different eye shape...)
IΒ΄ll hope that you understand this critic as a constructive critic... IΒ΄ll think that all people (me too, of course) must be criticed to make the job better...I hate the people that acts in front of a great drawer like you or others as they were in front of the emperor of the Hans Christian Andersen (EmperorΒ΄s new suit).

You know, in part because of all the talk that occurred back in the day on the Yahoo group, I *FINALLY* watched the show about two weeks ago. I tore through the DVDs within a week and watched Serenity by the weekend. Now I get it. I totally get why you and so many other people love this show. I miss the characters already. Right now, the desktop pattern on my computer at home and at work is the 3 covers that you did of the entire crew that lock together.

I bought these comics (yes, all of them) for my sister for christmas because she's a bigger Firefly nut than I am (I know, right? D: )
I remember talking with my boyfriend about how cool it was that the artist made them look EXACTLY like the actors. I never thought I'd get a chance to tell the artist himself! All of these covers are amazing, I love them. You did them justice. Shiny covers dude
