Description
This is the cover I did for the hardcover trade paperback collection of Dark Horse Comic's first SERENITY comic-book miniseries, based on Joss Whedon's tv show & movie.Yet another digital colorization of a gray tonal drawing.
18" X 27" on sketchbook/pad paper; pencil, ink, marker, white paint, Berol Prismacolor pencil, and then Photoshop CS2.
FIREFLY was the bestest, shiniest tv show. Ever.
At the very least, it was my favorite.

Mr. Hughes, if someone looks for a talent so good as Drew Struzan to make movie illustrations, you are the man for the job. I would LOVE to see drawings as this one in big walls around towns.

Some people are stough to capture, likeness-wise. I did a much better version of her the second time I drew her. Check out my Indiana Jones cards to see how many tries it takes to get even close to a decent likeness.

Apart from loving the series I really like the actress, she is so beautiful (I saw her in the infamous "Angel" and in the even worse "Hercules". lol, I'm a total freak!! xD)

I never saw the series but I did see the Serenity movie...enjoyed it enough to watch it more than once, which for me is saying something.
I really like the work you've done here. The only thing bugging me is the lady (can't remember her name); her facial expression doesn't seem to match her action very well. It's gorgeously rendered, but looks strange to me.

I agree, it's highly enjoyable from start to finish. Witty dialogue and a great story...a movie I'd buy if I bought DVDs. Thankfully it's on Netflix's instant watch so I can watch it whenever I want without hunting down a disc.
