So how are you digging this Anne Hathaway as Catwoman news?
I've been trying to draw her as Catwoman and its like my mind is having none of it.

I think if done properly, Anne Hathaway could be a very cool Catwoman. I love THE DARK KNIGHT, and while I immensely enjoy Christopher Nolan's take on the BATMAN universe, I've never found it to be defintive. But it's always amazing and interesting to watch. I don't think Ms. Hathaway's Catwoman will be definitive, but as long as she's amazing and interesting to watch, I'm on-board!

Had no idea there were pens that would give that..."texture." Nice!

Well, technically the PAPER gives you that texture, more than the nature of the pens.

Texture was probably the wrong word...I meant tone probably. The grays...The shading. Thanks for the hint. I love your work. Ten years ago when I was looking at comics trying to learn how to draw I never though I'd have an opportunity to converse with and get tips from the pros! Thanks for taking the time!

Adam, I've been a fan for a long time. I like this piece, well, for the reasons others have said, but more so for seeing a 'process' image of your workflow.
You're stuff's inspiring. Love it.

Do you erase your pencils completely before you use your markers, or do you leave a few lines here and there with your pencils? I've always wanted to do that but every time I have my copics smudge the pencils and it looks blah. :\

Would so love a couple hundred quid to spend on some markers *sigh*

My nephew who is 7 and who loves art and loves to draw saw a print of one of your Catwoman drawings ( my friend kindly got it for me as a gift when you were at Comic Con, she knows how much I admire your work) wonders how you draw like that. All I told him was practice and patiences.
Thanks for sharing this.
Oh have you ever drawn Mary Marvel in her Black outfit?

You should make a video tutorial on how to use copic markers. I would totally buy that. I marvel at how you get them to come out so even without any hint of streaks. Help me Adam Hughes, you're my only hope.

I say post it in the stages in between now and the finish.... this way we can learn and be taught, rather than shown the finish and be bewildered. Just a suggestion.

AdamHughes In reply to Dr-Cruz [2011-01-21 16:50:06 +0000 UTC]
That's assuming there's pics of the following stages.
One thing I discovered about doing this tutorial (yes, it's for a tutorial; more on that later) was that it's VERY disruptive to the creative process to stop what you're doing and take a photo or a screen capture of what you're doing. You might be in the middle of some serendipitous bit of inspiration, and you have to put on the breaks, get the camera, take a picture, and then pick up where you left off.
