Year: 2011Client: DC Comics & SONY
Media: Media: Pencil, PITT Pen and COPIC marker on Strathmore Drawing paper, then colored with Adobe Photoshop CS2.
Here's my UNCHARTED cover, done for SONY as a giveaway poster at San Diego Comic-Con 2011, and then used as a variant cover for DC Comics' UNCHARTED comic last month. The Drake face is different than the poster version: I redid it because I didn't think I came close to the way Drake looks in the game. This is a little closer, but it usually takes me 5 to 7 attempts before I get close to a character.
I love the UNCHARTED games. This cover was designed as an homage to Drew Struzan's INDIANA JONES movie posters. Imagine my surprise when Drew himself was standing at my table at San Diego, saying hi and thumbing through my portfolio...

I really love the way this turned out, Sullivan and Cloe look spot on. I know a lot of people have already said something about Drake's face. In general it's amazing, your faces always have a lot of character and just look freaking genius especially when colored. However in comparing it to how Drake is portrayed in the game and what I personally envision him as, his face just makes him appear too thick. He seems like a football player rather than a sleek rogue thief. Regardless of however, this is your rendition of him and it looks great. I would definitely love to see you do more from this series in the future if possible. Either way, I look forward to seeing more of your work. 8D

you know what I admire about you the most, Your open and honest about your work. I still think you added the right level of character in this piece then just making a cold mechanical copy over screen shots like other artists would have done.
