I couldn't come to like how they basically cut the engine intakes from the original X-Wings in half and shrunk the width of the wings. It just looks.... tacky, especially when they put so much detail into the First Order's Tie Fighters.

Well if they made those X-Wings slightly more sleeker then they would be perfect. I love the cockpit, but it's hard to tell it apart for an average viewer. As for the TIEs, I think they should go with concepts - there were tons of great ones.

I really don't know how they could have made the X-wings any sleeker....
And inΒ all reality, a Tie Fighter is always going to be a Tie Fighter - there's not much you can really do to change the look without changing the vehicle completely.

Oh by sleeker I just wanted it to be cleaner and not look like something that Rebels had to put through dozens of battles. Poor choice of words
As for the TIE, they could quickly mix things up - cut away a part of the wing, change the look of wing pylons etc. This time around the TIE could look a bit worse since it would have a harder time than the Resistance fighters, as it was the First Order that was trying to take back the power, not the other way around.

Makes sense, the X-wings did look like they'd already taken a beating, and the TIEs looked fresh off the assembly line.
I don't think the First Order will ever have the impact as the Empire did - even with obliterating multiple worlds at once, it's just.... it's not the same....

Another great artist (but NOT the same as McQuarrie), is Alex Ross.Β I love Alex Ross' own unique style that reminds me of the high points of the artists of the late 50s and early 60s epic paintings.

Alex Ross has done cover art for comics and posters for a great number of titles.Β He is famous for DC comics stuff but he does all kinds of stuff.Β He co-wrote and does the original art for a title, "Astro City".Β He also has dfoen numerous covers and posters for MARVEL comics characters as well.Β One of his best works, was one he co-wrote.Β 'Kingdom Come' featuring DC comics characters as they age and see a new generation of super powered kids come along.Β We see Superman age into his hundreds and almost 1,000 years old.

Well this one is a bit shorter and wider than the X-Wing so I think that these lasers fit it perfectly. Long ones work well for sleeker ships.
