Description
Another render of the Star Trek Sabre class ship.Model is based on the ship that appeared in Star Trek First Contact and DS9/Voyager but with some slight changes.
The scene is a continuation of my previous render, when the ship is engaging a Borg vessel (not shown in the picture
) If you have an idea for another shot, I will gladly hear it.

This the first Federation ship design out of the Prime Time Line (other than the USS Grissom/Oberth-class) that has the fanon 'Andorian' look.

Would be nice to see it in a render that reflects its mission profile, only we don't know for sure what that was. Even considering the Defiant and the extra firepower that ships tended to have after the Borg became a threat, I doubt the Sabre was entirely a warship. Maybe it's a small escort... could show it protecting a convoy maybe?

When I finish the rest of the fleet I will make some different shots for sure. As for the ship's purpouse I think it was indeed a small escort, meant to distract bigger vessels, mainly due to its small size.

Yes, the Steamrunner and Norway at least. There are many Akira ships floating around so I won't be doing that one.

I fell in love with the Sabre class thanks to a bunch of novels I read in hospital about the adventures of the crew of the USS DaVinci assigned to the starfleet corps of engineers. I must say you've done a masterful job of recreating the ship. Reference mateial to work from must have been scarce, theres not that many netbooks that show more than a side elevation. Great work

The amount of images and schematics available is indeed very low but the ship is fairly simple and didn't give me any problems.
I did change some parts of it, just for the sake of keeping the geometry flow fairly constant.

Star Trek had always more content then just war (that's why I don't like the later movies +6 or starfail 11 by jj-abrams)
Maybe you could do a scene (if you have more trek ships) where there's some kind of a diplomatic mission going on, sabre docked with some other ship etc... : )

To tell you the truth I always anticipated battle scenes in Star Trek, but that's because I grew up watching Star Wars from a VHS tape
However, now that I got into the old series I think the new movie did lose the unique mood of the old Trek.
Currently I am not planning any "peaceful" shots of the ship but when I have enough ST models, I will most certainly do something.
