Just gonna be a bit of a douche here: I think that you should use a more elegant hand. Probably a slender girls hand.
It would sort of add more beauty to the smoke in a way.

I'm thinking of doing a tutorial soon - I'll pop up a vote to see if there's enough interest.

Nice image mate and wonderful colours.
The only thing that I think might need 'adjusting' is maybe playing with the colour of the smoke under the hand? To me it looks a little too bright and pale?

Thanks, much appreciated.
The colour definitely needs changing, as does the whole lighting setup. Because the lights are too bright, undiffused and close to the hand, it has starkly white highlights that lose all the detail.
This is really a place holder, which I'll be shooting again. That's the odd thing about a WIP photo - I tend to reshoot rather than manipulate (which is a bad habit as there's lots I could do in PS).
I need to have a think about how to light the hand properly and freeze the smoke. To light the hand properly, the lights must be quite soft and gentle, but to freeze the smoke needs a bright and sharp light. I can use my off-cam flash to do the smoke as always, but that same light has to hit the hand.
Unless I make a gobo (something that sits in front of the light to block it) that means the hand isn't lit, and light the hand with something else..

What about a thin piece of white paper or a reflector to soften the light? Just a though.

That's a good idea Tubin, thanks.
Unfortunately the intensity of the flash (it's pretty much at full power for this) requires a more solid blocker. I really should get round to reshooting this at some point - I even have a fitting gobo that I could use.

You know what - I totally missed that this was a WIP!!
Sounds like you know how to fix the problem though which is good.

Ta, it's a concept shot, having a think on the lighting challenge mentioned below.
