Hey! nice design!
Any advice for a noob who wants to design robot/mechanic stuff?

Start with simple geometric shapes and pay attention to the 'functional' parts such as joints where things join and rotate. Lots of cables and wires always help!
I usually add a bunch of graphics and part lines to increase the detail. Scale reference to people is always good too particularly if its a large mech.
