Another illo from my rejected proposal for a GEN13/ DIRTY PAIR crossover, circa roughly 1997.The DP travel back in time (or, back along a different timestream, as the DP's universe has no superheroes)... and promptly start messing around with poor Grunge from Gen13. Then again, who wouldn't do that?

IMO, the "Mass Media" is on a literal CONSPIRACY to make anything bland, lame and vapid. And "PC" worst of all.
So, when outfits like Image get popular, the money-men come in and work hard to iron everything bad and then they keep out the guys like you who are simply excellent storytellers. Haven't been able to even pick up most image titles since the late 90s and I used to eagerly get every issue of almost every title.

I realize Now the "Hologram Monster" is an Homage of Yours to the "Bastard" Manga by Kazushi Hagiwara.
I think that is one of the Biological Sub-Weapons spawned by the Techno-Magical Demon/God "Anthrasax" when is reactivated and wants to Destroy the World of the Comic.
I always thought that You are the American Author with the MOST Knowledge about Japan Manga and Animes,as seen in the many Homages in Your Great Works.
In fact when I must describe Your Comics to Troglodytes who does not know Your Material I always depict it as "The Only TRUE American Manga" !!!

great stuff man, i didn't know you were on deviant. I'm quite happy about this. NOt much of a manga artist, but if there is anyone i apprecaite more is your work man. great stuff, i think i got into you when you did the side project for BAtttle chasers, with the short mini comics on the back side. By the way, did you own dirty pair before they became a anime series? I always got confused by the connection, or did you just get hooked drawing them when you saw the show?

There's no direct connection between the animated DP (in their many, varying incarnations) and my own version, save that both are based on/ licensed from the creator of the Dirty Pair (which originated in a series of Japanese SF novels), Haruka Takachiho. On the other hand, seeing the animated version was what first got me interested in trying to do an English-language DP comics...

If you were tapped to be a part of a hypothetical DP cartoon show here in the States, would you push to use your current costumes and background scenarios, or would you want to redesign them again?

There's no possibility whatsoever of that scenario coming to pass, alas, but if it did, I'd push for something fairly close to the current version of the design...

AH okay, cuz i keep hearing different rumors about it. OKay sweet deal. YOu should push for that english version, i think it would be badass. I only liked one of the movies coming from DP, and its been years since i've seen it. I think i need to check into that now that i think about it.

Man! Pity this didn't happen! I would love to have seen this comic. The best of both worlds. The Lovely Angel's, and the crew from Gen13..what more could you ask for?
