Description
Behold, a low-res file (the best one I could find, alas) for the main promo illo from my failed pitch for an original MATRIX ONLINE story.... See the journal entry “FAILED-PROJECT FRIDAY: the MATRIX ONLINE story” for more details. Me on the line art, Ryan Kinnaird doing an awesome job on the colors, Matrix code and so on.Completely irrelevant side note: I’d like to note (well, boast) for the record that Toren Smith and I were possibly the first guys to depict the .50 AE Desert Eagle semiautomatic pistol (as used by the Matrix’s Agents and our heroine, here) in a fictional medium! Ooh, ah! I drew it into issue #4 of DIRTY PAIR II: DANGEROUS ACQUAINTANCES within a few days of first reading about the giant pistol’s upcoming debut in GUN WORLD, circa 1989. Amusingly enough, several less-informed gun nuts immediately accused us of making up the “.50 Action Express” caliber... Anyhoo, the .50 Desert Eagle has since become a numbingly inescapable cliché in action films, TV shows, books, comics and manga, of course... But we were there first, yo! (Or nearly first, as I suspect that one of the many, many high-level gun nuts in manga circles prolly used the Desert Eagle before we did.) Okay, that's it for today's exercise in gun nuttery...

When in bullet-time, the Desert Eagle's muzzle flash would be simply beautiful to render.

This piece is awesome! I've never played MO, so I wouldn't know if she's a real or custom character. Bottom line: she's hot, hell-bent anti-Matrix, and kicking butt.

Ah, wonderful illustration, shame it won't happen though. Kinda wanna see where it'd pan out from what you described, it seems like a cool concept.
Also, damn, you're good on details. The 'Deagle' looks like one, and the sig saurer looks like a sig saurer....
....and the girl's cute too

She is going to brake her arm shooting that .50AE with one hand, its hard enough for an average sized male to shoot one of those things with both hands, agents can do it cuz their agents and they can do what they want.

Ah, the Desert Eagle. One of the most overrated weapons, up their with the Katana.

both weapons are good at what they're meant to do: kill people. That's why so many people use 'em.
Somebody hits you with a decent shot form a .50 cal Action Express cartridge, chances are you aren't getting back up. The exit wounds ALONE are probably the size of Texas.
I'll agree though: it's overrated in the sense that it's overused. Sure, .50 cal's are a big deal, but frankly, you shouldn't be using a pistol that big, ever. Unless you're hunting some big game and you drop your rifle. 9mm's are usually enough to stop full grown males, which is why most weapons use them.
(Sorry, 'nerded out there for a moment XD)

Oh, they ARE powerful. I am, however, tired of every unimaginative anime freak making up some angsty pistol jockie who uses two Desert Eagles simultaneously. The kick, reportedly, would turn your wrist to mulch.
Aside, the DE has many flaws as well. Cant remember them at the moment, though.

Yeah, I'm sick of that myself. They call it "the wrist breaker" for a reason D:
I guess I'm being realistic in the sense that my character only gets one XD

Technically the DE that they used in the movie was not .50 cal, but the 9mm version (barrel size gives it away ) but all in all, that's an awesome image.
The pistol is still too far big for practical use, in my opinion lol.

Dessert Eagles only come in .357, .44, and .50AE calibers cuz the DE is a magnum, 9mm is a pistol round.

I've seen the 9mm DE sold in Texas. They do exist.
And all those calibers you pointed out are also pistol rounds. Magnum is just a different type of pistol round.

Wikipedia is not a good source to use. No academic will take it as a source, and neither will I. Especially when I've HELD the thing. All it is is a different style of barrel and magazine that you change out. Doesn't take much.

It is a magnum round ONLY gun, give me a picture of this "9mm" Dessert Eagle. And wikipedia IS a good source.

Find me one university that accepts wikipedia as an academic source, either as a primary and secondary source. You won't find it.
You do know that magnum rounds are only used in pistols right? And btw...you're wrong. They do make 9mm Desert Eagle pistols. Here, from the company that makes Desert Eagles. And hey, wouldn't you know it? It looks EXACTLY like a Desert Eagle. Go figure. [link] istols

First of all, thats a baby-dessert eagle, not a dessert eagle, second of all, I know that magnum rounds are used in more then just pistols, there used in rifles and revovlers, third of all, universitys dont take wikipedia cuz they like to improve study skills, wikipedia is too easy, that doesn't mean its a bad source.
