The Giffen/DeMatties run on Justice League was among the first comics I collected regularly, and the two dominant artists on that book (Adam Hughes and Kevin Maguire) remain immesurably huge influences in my work. Fire and Ice were a couple of my favorite characters from that book, and remain dear to my heart to this day.There's a bit of an homage to Mr. Hughes in the post-effects on this one, as I saw a print he did of the ladies as I was adding the final touches and he inspired me.

I'll see. Yeah, I might see what I can do, but I can only get so many comics and I usually have What If...?, Amazing Spider-Man, and Blackest Night (my all-time favorite DC story) at the top of my wishlist. But who knows? I may just be seeing Ted Kord yet...

Sorry about that bit of msnformation. Yeah, I don't know. With me, I prefer the Outsiders. Gotta love that proactive approach to crimefighting. Plus, they always have such cool characters. Besides their founder and leader, (who is, by the way, my personal favorite hero) the teams also had Catwoman, Martian Manhunter, Nightwing, Black Lightning Katana, Eradicator (my favorite Krypnian) Green Arrow....
But, I'm rambling. Always did love a fun read. The problem is, I've never liked Guy (except as a Red Lantern, where he was badass) and when he's your team's green lantern....
But, who knows. I may check it out. Any reccomended stories? I heard they fought Doomsday....

The best stuff was long before Doomsday. You'll want to read the early stuff when Kevin Maguire and then Adam Hughes were the artists. That was the JLI at its best, and though it kind of shows its age (it was written in the 80's), it's still entertaining.

I never liked the JLI much (well, the CHARACTERS on the team where cool but seriously, the JLI? And you can't call yourselves an "all nations Justice League" when government lap-dog Captain Atom is leading) but this duo is pretty cool, and also look cool in your style. Fire looks a little annoyed though...

Captain Atom was never the leader. He lead Justice League Europe (which was a weirder fit, honestly), but the JLI was led by Batman and then Martian Manhunter. By the time Batman left, Cap was off to JLE and Manhunter was in.
I loved the JLI for the humor and the characters. It felt like real people, you know? It was a fun read.

Love this as they were one of my favorite pairs in comics. I think the Justice League era with them was the first DC comics I bough as up until that i was strictly a Marvel Zombie. I am glad to see them and you really brought out their individual personalties here.
