Description American Alligator can be seen sunning itself at the Guana Preserve in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida as we walked the trails thru the woods & marshlands. This is a wild animal that roams the area freely & breeds & nests here.

They REALLY aren't as mean and aggresive as people believe they are. I don't see why people always have to see the worst in animals..

Your welcome. Amazing shot.

Like, we have so many coyotes here, but these dipshits are feeding them. PURPOSLY feeding them. Leaving food out in their yard and such. They coyotes come around my house regularly, and as soon as they eat someones dog, they all have to die. But what can you expect? It's in their nature to kill, and people are desesetising them to people aswell as making them believe that they can take what is around peoples houses.

The level of stupidity here is really, really sad.

I probably lived near there... I was born and raised by the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary.

Love this!!!!! Don't want to get bit, but sure would like to see close ups of the eyes and mouth. This is so cool with all the lineal texture of the grasses, the reflections, and the very calm Alligator. I guess he is not a bit afraid of you and your camera?!!

We were very surprised that it did not spook. . . .we did not press our luck though & after taking a few shots moved on in a calm manner & it stayed right where it was.

Oh Really !?!? We see them out & about more in the warmer months but even when we went in December there were one or two visible. . . .I luv it when it is time for the babies to come out of the nest !!! We have seen numerous litters over the past few years.
